  1. So glad they got tossed in jail. Idiots. My Indian buddy at work says when people find out he's Indian, he often gets asked what Tribe he's from. Good stuff ... I suppose they must have thought you were from the Chechnyan tribe.
  2. Easy to find something fun to do around there. Have a great time! Very peripherally related ... Any inside info on Jamoris Slaughter, Notre Dame safety? The Browns just drafted him in one of the later rounds. I figure a Notre Dame Dad might have seen him play ...
  3. I guess 'downtown' is a pretty generic term in a big city. There are so many areas of interest, I'd suggest figuring out an area to focus on , then pick a hotel near that. Shopping? Magnificent Mile. Museums? Museum campus. Ethnic? There's Greek town, Italian village, Ukrainian village. Maybe pick a restaurant or two you'd wanted to try and stay near there. Or just pick a place close to the lake south of Illinois and north of Roosevelt and you can get anywhere you want using public transportation. You can just plan a walk around Millennium Park to look at The Bean and catch a free concert. Go on the architectural boat tour on the Speed Dog along the Chicago River. Lots to do, I don't think you can go wrong! I don't know hotels, since I don't stay in them while in Chicago, sorry I can't help with that.
  4. I'd say it's about the same. I have friends who love Hyde Park, but I've never understood the attraction. Something about the combination of U of C academics and urban cool/fear for your life that must give people an adrenaline rush.
  5. In. Have a great ride both of you! Glad no mountains...
  6. Happy birthday!
  7. Happy Birthday!
  8. Bummer. Bad way to start a trip!
  9. I would just stay downtown and spend some time in Chicago. There isn't much to see or do in the Midway area, and downtown Chicago is as close to any neighborhoods you'd drive to.
  10. Done. Have a great ride!
  11. Grilled sirloin with a shallot wine sauce, garlic fries, mushrooms
  12. Vicki, just awful. I've heard some awful things parents have said and done to their kids, and that's up there ... and to see it happening live and in person ... ugh!
  13. Looks great, Colin! As does MOA4!
  14. This. Nice pokey, Doug!
  15. Damn, nice! Aways thought about a food trip to go there. Glad you liked it!
  16. Happy Birthday!!
  17. Going to the Chicago Symphony tonight to hear the Bach Mass in B minor.
  18. I've been having a lot of 'failed to connect to forum' problems when posting on Tapatalk lately. I THINK it's when quoting on a reply.
  19. My previous primary care doc's office told me the first appointment available was in three weeks the one time in 5 years I called asking to get in for being sick. I got a new doctor a while ago, and he got me in within a week the one time I called. But he's in a newer practice and maybe it'll get worse.
  20. I think it is impossible any more. You either go to the urgent care center or the ER. Hope you are ok ...

    Shoe-Case

I've found a lot of good dress shoes require a bit of break in. 200 hours, ideally. Makes them warmer, richer, softens the harshness.
  22. I miss Luther ... Me: Tommy Turrentine on SACD Thanks, Deepak!
  23. Damn, get well soon, everyone! Al, my teen next door neighbor had Osgood Schlatter. Poor guy, he grew from me looking down at him to me looking up at him over one winter. Didn't recognize him when he said hi to me the next spring. In terrible pain for months. Must have been miserable for you. Jacob, awesome job on your tests! So great to hear you're acing grad school!
  24. Happy Birthday, Differential!
  25. Happy birthday!
