  1. I'd put off surgery until you're given a clear reason to need surgery. Agree, would be nice to know what's even wrong first!
  2. Great time last year, would love to again ... hopefully in. I need to get a better grasp of my schedule, though. It will be changing a lot right around then.
  3. This! I think it was Steve Jobs who said something about finding meaning in his failures, but only being able to connect the dots in hindsight. And in connecting the dots in hindsight, he had found great meaning and learning in those experiences. I wish I could find the actual quote... I've found it helpful at various times in my life. In any case, kudos to you for moving on with grace and finding meaning in something you haven't liked.
  4. Good chairs are good. Congrats, Jacob! Let us know how you like it!
  5. Agree on its rewards ... when it's done, and everyone is still alive and lacking serious injury (hopefully), albeit having had chocolate cake for all of their meals (Dad is great ... he gives us chocolate cake!), there is a great feeling of confidence, and a sense of closeness to your kids that is much deeper. Chris, didn't mean to neglect you - - good luck! Sounds hectic!
  6. Jim and Brent, also been there, have been exhausted and overwhelmed, and also wouldn't change a thing ...
  7. Went to Daniel's 3rd-4th grade youth organization championship soccer game and we won! Congratulations to the Black Demons!
  8. Better battery life, if that's important to you.
  9. Interesting...
  10. And yeah, guess you have to go with hubby's wishes. But I agree, the are much better values than Michelin, in my experience. I've had Kumho, Dunlop, and Nokia that I've liked better than Michelin for the price.
  11. Ah! Sorry, I, um, overlooked his post...
  12. Who suggested that? Colin? I think he was thinking for himself, if that's who you were referring to ...
  13. In the market next spring. Agree on the Tire Rack, and heavier load rating being ok. I drive so little now, that I never run out of miles or wear. My tire guy told me to replace them at 6 years either way, as they wear out based on age, too. But I think he's trying to sell me tires. I looked at them closely, at the time, and they looked perfectly fine. Until now, as I'm starting to see very slight signs of cracks here and there. Time to replace them, I guess.

    New Puppy

Yeah, we gave up on brushing dog teeth. Too traumatic on both sides. Hopefully starting as a puppy will help. Our vet said if you can only stand a limited brushing, to focus on the fangs, as they are the most important to keep healthy. We can't even manage that, though ...
  15. Damn, Brent... Just terrible. Glad you're all OK! Mike , did you like New Glarus? I really enjoyed that place. Did they have the fruit /cherry beers available?
  16. Done Edit: I have some veteran patients who have done a similar (non-Special Operations) event and RAVED over it. Really challenging, but a great time, and really a fantastic way to bond. Good luck!
  17. So sorry, Todd! Best to you and your family. As you suggested, when it's time to go, I think it's best to go quickly and painlessly. Let everyone gather and celebrate his life, mourn the loss, and prepare to move on. I've seen so much more damage come from forcing things to linger with false hope, and trying to control the uncontrollable. Hope this weekend goes as well as possible for you!
  18. The fish looks awesome, but the mushy peas ... that's what I use to feed my kids when they were babies.
  19. Great news, Brent!
  20. Yeah, what is it with Brits and mushy peas? I never understood that.
  21. Happy Birthday, Marc! Hopefully a day filled with great music, and great cocktails!
  22. I recall other audio magazines following the same protocol - Stereophile and Stereo Review (years ago) follow this. (Not that they're the gold standard for opinions, but being major publications, they probably set the standard for reviewing protocol.)
  23. I don't see how to do that.
  24. Really liking Mavericks so far. My MBA 11" i7 Haswell feels a lot more responsive.
