  1. That is an accurate flow chart. I bought the overpriced Apple care plan, it's been in effect for weeks now, and I have not shattered my iPad!

    Magnepan 1.7

I wonder if that could be improved with more careful/ precise placement? Or was the setup you heard already very carefully done?
  3. You're not camping out overnight?
  4. Please run speed tests with blutarsky's arms up vs. arms down, like the old TV's rabbit ears. Also with and without man purse, please. Might affect some purchasing decisions. Thanks! )
  5. Yup, I'm right there with you, bro'! Sometimes I check my Apple store account just to see if my iPad is still expected in late April. It is. In case anyone was wondering. BUT ... I got my Apple care goin' a month ago, I've had my bluetooth keyboard sitting in my office for a week, AND, my case is due by April 3 ... Woot!
  6. I agree with this article. I don't think it will be right away, and many will say it's not a success initially; but check back in a few years, and I bet this will turn out to be true.
  7. Do experienced iPhone/touch users recommend a screen protector? If so, what brands?

Registered at HF - thanks, Ryan!
  9. I read this while visiting the in-laws in Wisconsin this weekend: Theft at Koss blamed on relaxed attitude, lax oversight - JSOnline 'the board of directors barely changed in 20-plus years. And where the company's vice president of finance could move around millions of dollars without approval from above.' and 'Until recently, Michael Koss, who studied anthropology at Beloit College, held five corporate titles: vice chairman, chief executive officer, chief operating officer, president and chief financial officer - a combination that makes corporate governance experts cringe. "Having a CEO/CFO that majored in anthropology attesting to the financial statements - that is troubling for obvious reasons," said Daugherty, who is using the Koss case in seeking funding to conduct a case study of corporate oversight.' Interesting how the business is run - very family run business with little oversight. It's too bad someone had to take advantage of them and cheat in this way! But also amazing that no one noticed!

  12. Ok. Free vinyl and beers at a stripper bar. I'm good with that! I've got a thing for blondes, then Latinas. You? Do I have to buy lap dances for everyone, too? This is getting expensive!
  13. That vaja looks nice! Can't tell on my Blackberry - does it have a stand to prop the iPad up?
  14. Awright! Did you put the shovel down?! I'll put up a separate thread w/ a list of the more desirable albums (mmm, feels good to say that word again! Let me say it again ... album!) Note to the OP - a coupla beers, and some free vinyl ... maybe a good way to get in good as a noob!
  15. Oh, great! I'll go through my stuff and see what's there. I was trying to figure out how to hold this stuff for you folks first. Maybe I'll make a list of the good stuff and PM with interested parties. I don't think it's worthy of a separate thread, is it?
  16. LOL. I'll buy the beers, not a problem. And don't forget the free vinyl! BTW, as the first of only two respondents to have an interest in the vinyl, let me know if you want me to put your name on any titles before the good ones are grabbed by someone else. Write here or PM me. It's mostly 80's rock, classic rock and classical, some jazz and R+B - too many to list, but if you give me some direction I can tell you which ones might be of interest.
  17. Man, you guys are good! I am definitely still an amateur ...
  18. Welcome to HC! I'm an almost-noob and felt the same initially. I wrote almost nothing for over a year. I finally starting jumping in a few months ago. I've gotten the best, quickest, information here and love it. I've been 'gently informed' when I wrote something dumb; I figured out why it was dumb, admitted it was dumb, and that was the end of it. Otherwise it's been great information and great people. Pretty much everything posted here is worthwhile and accurate, and I think they want to keep it that way! ) I look forward to meeting people in person at CJ! I hope you have a similar experience!
  19. Unsure about a mouse. There are BT mice, aren't there? I'd suppose those MIGHT work, but have not read anywhere that they would. I'd be doing a lot of heavy typing or have the need for fast typing. The iPad would be on a desk right in front of me, standing upright, so I'd plan on a lot of touch/gestures. I never considered that it'd be awkward- I thought the whole point was that the touch/gesture interface would be superior to mousing. In fact, with most of my current computing, I find myself wishing I could just 'reach out and touch' rather than have to use a touchpad or a mouse. I guess I'll find out in a month in a half! Regarding HPA's rant, I suspect some of Apple's decisions are doing what THEY believe 90 percent of what people want/what makes the most technical sense for the format in question (what you might call arrogance, if you don't agree with them!) And some are financial/contractual decisions. I agree it seems fair to only pay once for ATT's 'unlimited' data, but ATT would not agree. And it looks like ATT wins for now, esp since we're in the early adopter phase. I suspect there was no iPhone/iTouch keyboard because they didn't want to steal customers from this thing they had in development called 'iPad'. It looks like now that iPad is coming out, keyboards may soon work for iPhone/iTouch. Copy/Paste, who knows? Maybe copyright concerns and they figured it out, or maybe people complained too much? Maybe it gets people to upgrade? They do seem slow to bring on some features, but they also seem to be doing well in sales, and in making reliable, easy to use, 'satisfy most of the people, most of the time' products!

Nope, no O'Hare drop off for Megabus. Weird, because I've picked up people who took the Megabus to O'Hare. Maybe only when they originated from the Northwest? In any case, I don't know if the times are set yet, but I plan to head there late AM on Sat. If you plan on a Sat arrival, no problem, I can adjust my time for your arrival. An earlier day than Sat might be tough for me. Looks like morphsci beat me with the transit info. But that stop to get to O'Hare is only 2 1/2 blocks south and 1 block west from Union Station. You can go to Google maps, go to Chicago, enter 'Union Station', click on 'more' and add transit info. You'll see Union Station and the Clinton Blue Line just southwest of it. It's maybe a 30-40min train ride to O'Hare from there. Just PM me as the date approaches, if you'd like me to pick you up on Saturday.
  21. Yeah, which keyboard is a tough one. I could still switch, but I'm thinking, as much as I hate changing batteries, I'll probably use the iPad in Landscape mode more than in Portrait, and from the way the keyboard dock attaches, it appears to be fixed in Portrait mode. Could easily be wrong, though. I also may use the keyboard on my lap, and put the iPad on a small moveable desk on wheels in front of me, as I speak to patients. I'll probably also pick up that portable BT keyboard for the road, when it comes out.

I could swing by and getcha. But I have to warn you of my propensity for mild tardiness. I can also look up the train route tonight. Also, I thought megabus has an O'Hare drop off option? I'll check out all this stuff after the kids go to bed tonight.
  23. x2. Do you think they'll automatically adjust the Apple Care Support date, or will we need to get on them? Also, I ordered the wireless keyboard instead of the keyboard/dock, and that's in transit now.
  24. Well, no wonder everyone wants to pick it up at the store!
  25. What schwag has been given out in past introductory events?
