  1. Thanks, grawk and HPA. Grawk, sending a PM. Ryan, when I ordered my USB camera kit, my est wait time was 4 wks. I got a surprise and received it in less than 2! I hope the same for you.

    Jokes

Two atoms are walking down the street. One says to the other, 'Hey! I think I've lost my electron' Other atom says, 'Are you sure?' 'Yeah, I'm positive!'
  3. Last month had my hair cut at my local cheapskate Hair Cuttery, and the lady showed off her fancy hair shears to me. Turns out they were Hattoris. Beautiful, really. Didn't realize she could take off an ear with one false move ...
  4. HPA, I prefer lossless, as well. Do you use Apple lossless or something else? I have a lot of 320 mp3 from when I was trying to save space, and some FLAC from when I decided to go lossless, but before getting anything Apple. Now I'm not sure what direction to take for future discs, or if I should decide to re-rip the whole collection again. (A horrible thought!)
  5. Congrats, boomana! I suspect you will find that this thing will quickly find a way to assimilate into your life! I already use mine pretty much every day, several times a day, and in more ways than I thought I would! Mind if I ask what you do for a living? Are you a healthcare provider?
  6. Yeah, we used to play Flim and the BB's all the time in college for the same reason. Fun music , crazy dynamic range. But when we were feeling extra mature, we'd call them Flegm and the Boogers. Ok, seemed funny 25 years ago! I think the 1812 version you're thinking of is the Telarc: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/510KFJJ5XSL._SS400_.jpg Telarc did some great recording and mastering. This was their breakthrough recording, it was also on vinyl, of course, and Was THE tracking test for high end cartridges. I remember a picture of the groove of the LP at the loudest canon shot, and it was nearly a right angle. The debate at the time was whether it was reasonable to expect anything to track it. Then when the CD came out, there was a warning label so you wouldn't blow out your speakers!

I used to live by the Broadway location and was a regular. Nice little store. A bit grungy, but nice selection of used stuff. Also used to be a few shops down from the city's best adult toy store ... For those who are into such things ... Can't remember the name though. Great little neighborhood. Geographically called 'Lakeview', culturally called 'Boy's Town', because of the large gay population, so lots of nice restaurants and interesting shops. The Gay Pride parade marches right down that street and is something to behold. Only one neighborhood north of Lincoln Park, and just east of Wrigley Field, also worth a visit. 8. Ryan, congrats on the iPad! For me, the usage of the iPad has expanded well beyond its original intended uses. it's pretty much assimilated into my life in just 2 1/2 weeks. Hit the app store for some free or cheap apps, pick up some free books and magazines, and I bet your iPad will become a bunch of things you didn't even expect! Also curious if you picked up that sheet music app? edit oops! I see from the apps thread that you got forscore. Glad you like it!
  9. Got it working this way, and it's perfect. I was afraid it might delete all my current appointments, upload things I didn't want uploaded, or merge the two calendars. (All this has happened before with other products!) But nope, it works exactly the way I hoped it would. Two different calendars that I can turn on and off at will. Fabulous, it's like Apple can read my mind!
  10. good point ... maybe I am the undead ...
  11. True. I guess I was combining his statement about another article about aggressive pugs and eating a woman's sleeping face off, and this one in my head. I will say that the two pugs in that article bear a bit of a resemblance to my two... maybe our pug adoption agency is hiding the true history behind our pugs ....
  12. Wow! Brutal! My two are so docile and wimpy, I can't imagine any aggression. Any sign of trouble, and they're hiding under the table. Although I will say that they eat anything and everything, and I would suppose they would eat my dead corpse if they got hungry enough. Can't say I've seen them eat a used tampon, but haven't given them much of a chance. We've found dental floss comin' out the wrong side, though ...

It fits in the trunk; unfortunately, you can't close the trunk, and the top of the tubes stick out. That would look really cool if you could plug it in and you drove around at night with the tubes glowing, and tunes crankin' ...

Mike, does the ZD fit in the Miata's trunk?!
  15. Well, that worked really well! I subscribed to the google calendar. It's read only, but that might be better in some ways. I'm going to try it out this way for a while. Thanks!
  16. Well, that's pretty magical and revolutionary! I'll have to give it a shot! Do you actually sync two calendars? I thought we couldn't sync iPad calenders to multiple different calendars yet? Or did you do the work around? I'd like to sync my Google calendar (personal) AND my Apple Me calendar (work), but from my research, it seems like they'd both want to sync to the main iPad calendar and there's no way to sync each to a different iPad calendar. I've read there's a work-around, but I fear work-arounds because when I've done that in the past, it often turns out badly for me (corrupted data, nasty results from a bad sync, etc ...).
  17. Is this to help with the privacy issue? Is it correct that: this would prevent syncing and therefore prevent people messing things up on the other computer(s), but that previously sync'd calendar and contact list would still be visible on the Ipad? Or would the whole calendar and contact list vanish once you turned off that account? Plus any changes anyone made on the iPad would later become sync'd, once you turn that account back on?

Sucks, man. Must be serious - I wish you and your family well. I really looked forward to meeting you. Could it work out to have a stop over in Chicago on the way back from wherever? We're a major hub, and very likely to be on the way back from anywhere ...
  19. Flesh eating pugs? Haven't heard of this. Should I fear my pugs?! Maybe the two are plotting and scheming while I'm asleep at night!

'Leisurely' is the key word here ... the Eisenhower is just awful due to massive construction. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time if you're on any kind of schedule. Reks, if you need a ride upon your arrival Fri, I can help out, if it's after work hours. Would be glad to help a fellow Buckeye! )
  21. I've researched that a bit because whenever I show a friend or family member my iPad, I have to stand over them to make sure I don't break patient confidentiality with anyone they might know, or somehow mess up my calendar with all my appointments. I password protect it on power up, but otherwise would LOVE to be able to lock down just my calendar and contacts list and let someone else use it for a few hours. I've looked around a bit and all I read is how this should be a feature, but it's not capable of doing this. There is a restrictions area under the 'Settings -General' tab, and I can see that some apps can be locked down or restricted, but it's very limited. It looks like it is designed for restricting kids from seeing R rated stuff, rather than protecting your privacy. I hope they improve on this in the future!
  22. I considered bringing my iPad to CJ, but have decided against it due to having a lot of confidential patient information on it. But I'd be happy to bring my USB camera dock kit if anyone has an interest and hasn't been able to obtain one.
  23. Tough call, honestly, they both look good to me. The leather may be nicer in the pic, but that canvas might be nicer in person. It is remade from some sort of WW2 materials and mercutiio next door seems to quite love it. I suspect you'll need to see it in person, then you'll know. I'm sure they'll exchange it if you change your mind. If not, you could always send it my way. )
  24. I keep mine plugged in most of the time during the workweek at the two offices I work, but will bring it home and use it unplugged for several hours over the weekend, and get down to 70-80%. I have no reason to think it wouldn't hit the 10 hr claim, but haven't formally tested it.
  25. That Temple bag/case is gorgeous! But $$$$$$$ ..... Also, just now saw that tyrion posted this here before I just found it and posted it on iPad-Fi - just wanted to acknowledge this.
