I actually meant to add sugar even after adding the Torani syrup. Agree, fake creamer can be pretty awful, and I prefer milk, as well. And I should say, I really don't drink that much coffee anyway, so what do I know!?
-
Douse it with flavored syrups, some sort of creamer, maybe even sugar to taste. I like Torani Hazelnut and milk. Real coffee drinkers will laugh at you, but it sure makes it easy to like!

Indeed! And she is definitely on my short list of performers I'd love to see live.

SACD Nice to hear you again, Alison, it's been a while.

Fine by me. Would be great to have Steve here!

I emailed my friend about controlling temperature precisely using the vents, and he responded: 'Yes it can be done but it takes some attention...there is now also an attachment for the main vent that you can purchase that makes this practically a hands-off procedure, fanning the flames as necessary for a stable cooking temp...hands off will cost you about $200-250' Edit: Googled a bit, and it must be this: http://www.thebbqguru.com/pages/Recommended-Smoker%7B47%7DGrill-Packages.html But it sounds like you can do fine without it.

Either date is fine by me. I might try to make chiunifi, but I am unlikely to get spousal approval for both, in fact, it not even reasonable to expect to get both, so I just am planning to come to this and maybe chiunifi next year if it works out. Do those who want to attend chiunifi expect to come to both? Maybe those folks can chime in as to whether it would be easier to have it on the same weekend, and find time to come to both, or have it on different dates and make two different trips. They can also PM the organizer if they prefer.

My buddy has an electric starter. Plug it in, heating coil into bottom of the the charcoal, ready in 10-15 min!
-
If you gave any ?s, let me know. I can get you in touch with him. I do remember him saying not to go cheap. Get the big one, and don't forget the nest! But then this is HC, I would expect no less! Also, it uses chunk/lump charcoal, rather than briquettes, so start looking for good sources of that, too.

My buddy in Atlanta has one. It's been about 8-9 years now, and he still raves about it. Yes, it's pretty much a cult, and he fully expected me to join. I'm too lazy to grill as much as he does, and I like to eat more than to cook, so wouldn't spend the cash, but I will say when we visited him, we had some of the best grilled meat ever! Off the top of my head, I remember him saying it's based on some ancient Japanese design, but using modern materials. It affords you great control over temperatures based on its shape and degree of opening/closing of top and bottom vents. Great for grilling, great for smoking, great for socializing - there's some big Green Egg club he's in ... not sure if it's formal or just a group of fanatics in the area. He says that anyone who loves grilling should have one.

Ha! Sure, why not? I never did get 'Skinny Asian Guy Who Holds Reks' Bag' after CJ as promised, and this would be even better! And what about our mustard wearing friend? She must deserve another custom title? BTW, I hope it was a strong, solid German, and not some bland, generic yellow?

FYI, my Clear Spot is profoundly location sensitive. If your 4G signal is not great, try moving it a few feet here and there, away from anything that might create any RF at all, and preferably next to a window, if at all possible. My best signal by far is in the window, facing the closest tower. I had to call due to technical problems to find out where my tower is, but you can surmise its location by using Clear's coverage map.

Good show, Kevin! Nice to have you! I hope you absolutely recognize that you could just show up at that south side bar, if you so desired. And if you wanted to make an issue of it, you would win that argument. But sometimes in life, I've found that some things are worth the argument, and some things aren't. Life, time and energy are so limited. Let's liquifi and have a great time! Look forward to seeing you again! Lord, I know nothing about liquor in that price range, but have always been curious in general about a cognac or champagne in that range. Would be glad to chip in to whatever is chosen.

Saturdays are much better for me, but I will make a Fri if I had to. Nov 5-6-7 is out , but the others look fine. I will very likely be getting a room at one of the hotels, so anyone is welcome to join me there to give Casa de Mike/Deb a break. Also, would be glad to help by picking up whatever else is needed, or just donating $ for food and supplies.

Fair enough. I stand corrected.

You never know, Reks. I felt when I asked her out, and still feel, that my wife is way out of my league. Turns out she was looking for some other deeper qualities in a guy. Women can be funny that way. You just never know. Thanks for making my day, Vicki! I just love dating and relationship stories. I hope my favorite story gives you a good laugh. A couple of months into dating Anne (my GF at the time, now my wife), we were getting pretty serious, and she decided to invite me up to her small town in Wisconsin to meet her whole family. Small town Wisconsin folk are pretty serious about going to church, and I hadn't set foot in a church but once in my entire life, despite being baptized Catholic as a baby. I was intent on making a great impression. I made it through most of the service just fine, and we got to the point where we give each other 'the sign of peace'. Everyone stood up, shook hands, hugged and said,'peace be with you.' I gave Anne a hug on my left, then turned to my right, where her favorite Grandmother was standing next to me, then extended my hand to shake hers; but instead, she spread her arms apart and leaned into me to give me a great big Grandma hug ... and ... ... yes, I felt up Grandma in church. Well, I was mortified! I really liked Anne A LOT, and figured I'd just blown it ... you don't feel up Grandma in church ... probably a break-up-able offense. I'd get kicked out of the family the first weekend I met them! I went into full defense mode. Figuring I ought to tell Anne myself, before Grandma got to her, I took her aside right after church and told her what happened, then waited for the worst. Anne starting cracking up like crazy. 'What's so funny?', I asked, 'won't she be really mad?!' Laughing even harder, she said, 'nah, that's the most action she's gotten in years! She probably loved it!' That story has become part of the family lore. And I have always been one of Grandma J's favorites. And Anne still married me. So again, I say, you just never know!

Shouldn't it be 'The User Formerly Known as A. Thorsen', or just 'The User'? Or maybe some funky and mysterious symbol?
-
*Sigh* I sure miss that A. Thorsen fellow. What ever happened to that guy?
-
Ah, got it, thanks! I'll try again, I know there have been updates since I tried it last.
-
^Streamtome? Anyone else used this? I love the idea, but the sound quality seems lacking somehow.

Old school, baby!
