  1. Sounds about right. No duck eggs in this one, but sometimes had them in the ones growing up. I don't actually buy this stuff. The hostess/cashier at the all you can eat Chinese buffet down the street gave them to me for free. She's always very friendly to me, probably because I'm always the only Chinese person in the whole joint. Anne says they should pay me to eat there, since I lend some authenticity to the place, which is otherwise filled with Mexicans and African-Americans. She also gets very excited about the kids, the fact that they can count to three in Chinese, and that they look just like their Chinese father, in spite of their mixed blood from my Caucasian wife. I don't have the heart to tell her they are both adopted from Kazakhstan, and they learned to count in Chinese from some video my Caucasian wife borrowed from the local library.
  2. Could be, for all I know. I've eaten it my whole life and never really knew what's in it. I'd guess some kind of ground up bean thing in a pastry shell. Or Chinese brains. I'm sure some REAL Chinese person would know.
  3. Had a chance to read the liner notes in the box tonight. It's the cycle of live recordings he did throughout the 1980's for DG, previously offered on several CDs, now in one boxed set.
  4. Even sweeter in person! My draw dropped, I hope I didn't drool on it. Can't wait to hear it!
  5. Amazon.com: Mahler: The Symphonies: Gustav Mahler, Leonard Bernstein, Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra: Music It's a boxed set of the complete Mahler symphonies Bernstein did with various orchestras from previous releases (obviously from previous releases!). Got it 'used-Like New' for $38.83 from Amazon marketplace, but it was still sealed. Great deal! Simple packaging, but the recordings so far sound just great!
  6. Mahler, Symphony no. 2 "Resurrection'. Bernstein, NY Philharmonic.
  7. Bruch Violin Concerto. Janine Jansen.
  8. Madison Ave just east of Des Plaines? Nice store, they're new-ish, I hope they stay in business! There's a couple of used and new CD and vinyl places around the area. You might want to wander over to Oak Park ave just south of I290 for used CDs and Oak Park Ave just south of Lake, can't recall the names but I can figure it out if you're interested. Also, there's Valhalla's Records on South Blvd just east of Oak Park ave. Sorry so imprecise, I'm firing this off on my BB in the gym and can't look it up right now.
  9. Went to a nice house warming party that in reality was a nice beer tasting party. Thanks, Absorbine!

  11. American Board of Psychiatry. I've been using the freebie ones, so I can't really complain. I think I've found one I like -www.cmeonly.com - a bunch of Johns Hopkins docs read all the journals for me, spoon feed me the info, then I take a quiz. Probably worth the money. I used to go to enough conferences to meet the requirements, but it's been harder since I became a parent. If you find out anything, great, but don't go out of your way ...

Agreed on Allen Edmonds. My main basic black dress shoe is made by them; it's 11 years old and looks almost new, after three new soles and several times per week being worn. Their outlet store is in Port Washington, Wisconsin, so sometimes we drive by it while traveling, and I always have to stop.
  13. Except for the bakery!
  14. Your legitimate excuse is that certification tests SUCK!!!! Hate 'em with a passion!!!! I only took mine because if I didn't, no insurance company would pay me. Looks like that site doesn't have medical CME's. Oh well, I'll keep slogging away with the ones I have, thanks anyway!
  15. Congrats! That's really good. I'm not aware of a similarly successful program anywhere in Chicagoland. Seems most of them are closing or being bought/sold around here. What online site do you use for those CEU's? I need about 70 hours by next spring! I have a couple of sites I use, but get sick of them after a few courses, and need something new.
  16. Jose Gonzalez, Veneer Thanks, Vicki! Now Official Member, boomana Stalker Club.
  17. I've never spent big money only car stereo. Just didn't think it was worth it. The one great car audio system I've heard was my neighbor's McIntosh system, in his couple year old Subaru Legacy wagon. McIntosh used to be offered by Subaru, apparently. Wow, that sounded great! But still wouldn't spend the money, since Ispend so little time in a car. And what ever happened to that postjack? I miss that guy! Hey, wait a second ....
  18. Thanks for the well wishes, all! We had a pretty nice, but not great dinner last night, but the place was half empty on a Saturday night. Not a good sign for a Chicago restaurant. I guess expensive, locally grown on the farm places aren't so popular, unless you win Top Chef on TV. I tried to get a table at Girl and the Goat, and there were no tables at a normal time for weeks! Congrats in advance for your 19th, Al! Congrats on dishes, Reks. One of my least favorite chores, and a constant battle. Welcome home, Shelly! No sauerkraut for a while, huh? Glad your event is over, Vicki! Unfortunately, it sounds even worse than you had anticipated. Good thing for candy, I hope candy doesn't make you feel sick! Best on your training, tyrion! We went to Pike's Peak a few months ago. Stunning place! Saw a marmot and a fox, both very cute. But I got light headed and my daughter got a raging headache, and all we did was walk around and eat donuts!
  19. Dinner tonight sans kids for our 11th anniversary at The Market House in Chicago. Time flies when you're having fun! When I asked one of my patients how long he's been married, he said, 'it's been 35 wonderful years of marriage, and 12 awful ones ...'
  20. Hah! Send one of your nerds to go get you some Nerds! And some saurkraut to go with it!
  21. Good man. My wife was on Lovenox for a while, she made me inject her. My neighbor has some injectable med for her MS; she has a needle phobia, poor lady, so when her husband is out of town, she comes to our house and asks me to inject her while she covers her eyes and looks the other way. Sounds like the no alcohol is the bigger difficulty for you!
  22. Nerds available in Germany?
  23. Huh. I wonder if you get a sugar rush, then an insulin crash? Ever try backing up your Nerds with a glass of milk or peanut butter crackers, ie, something with protein and some fat?
  24. Oops, I'm not reading in order. My bad. Here, let me ... You must be eating a helluva lot of those things.
