  1. Oops, when I said pin 1, I was thinking of 3-pin XLR. I guess the shield usually gets connected to the other metal part on the outside of the connector (whatever that is called). Also, I haven't checked with the mm yet but assumed the "gold" wire went to ground (there is a gold and red on one side and a green and red on the other side). Thanks for the advise on melting the enamel, that was probably going to be my next question.
  2. I wanted to re-terminate an HD650 cable to 4pin XLR. What is the best way to strip off the black sleeve without cutting one of the tiny wires? I was trying to carefully clip it with small wire cutters but I keep snipping one of the little wires. I also tried a wire stripper and that was worse. Will it make much difference if one of the wires is not connected (as long as the majority are)? Also, I see that the HD650 cable doesn't have shielding so I assume one doesn't anything to the 5th metal connector.
  3. That looks so awesome. It must sound fantastic!
  4. Ugh, sorry Jon. By the way, at least in Texas (not sure about other states), if you have a AAA membership, you get free identity theft monitoring through Experian. It won't help this time but might be something to think about for the future.

  6. I got a new haircut yesterday (went to a new person because I fear that I got my bed bugs from the place I used to go to) and I hate hate hate it. I feel like shaving my head but I look awful with a shaved head (and its cold).
  7. Wait, isn't the point of a dishwasher is so that you don't have to wash dishes by hand? I usually do a quick rinse but there is no way I am going to get hubby to scrub down his plates... hence the question about the filter cleaning.
  8. I cooked up some bacon in it last night (without butter though, next time I'll know better) and some of the pan is looking nice and dark. Unfortunately, a bit of the bacon stuck to some parts of the pan and lifted up some of the seasoning. I went ahead and seasoned again it on the stove with some more crisco (perhaps I should have used the bacon grease).
  9. Sounds like it'll work out fine.
  10. I've been listening to Beck's Morning Phase a lot lately and I'm in love with Wave.
  11. Yes, we have an official Bosch service center here so that is not a problem. I'm sure the Miele dishwashers are nice but $$$$. I'm looking at the Bosch 500 series right now. I would love to a have a quiet dw. I am not that concerned about about efficiency since we don't run our dishwasher that often. Three questions: 1) How well do the Bosch dry without the extra in tub heating element (I know it has a heating element for heating up the, what I think is cold, water)? 2) How well does the filter do, how often does one have to clean this out, how nasty does the filter get? 3) Does it get smelly (I've seen some people complain about this)?
  12. OK, Bosch it is. Sears, or should I buy it somewhere else (I assume the installation is straightforward enough that even the Sears guys can handle it)?
  13. I've never eaten wet cardboard, recommended?
  14. Yep, I used it for the first time and after flipping the egg (I used butter), it stuck a bit. I guess I am going to have to use lots of butter/oil in the beginning. How long until it is "stable"? Also, WTF is with this weather??? We are on our Spring Break (one week later than usual even) and I woke up to 26 degrees this morning. I am sure that is quite balmy for the folks north of here, but I live in Houston and it's March! Guess I won't be headed to the beach this week...

    Dishwashers

Dishwashers: we need a new one (built in). Any advice on brands/models?
  16. Started seasoning my 2nd carbon steel pan (after failing with my first). Not perfect but not nearly as bad as the first.
  17. That is the rack I have, pretty solid and reasonably priced
