  1. How did I miss this before? Hell yeah!!!!!!!
  2. It does seem to be using it for the actual streaming. http://pansentient.com/2011/04/spotify-technology-some-stats-and-how-spotify-works/ http://www.csc.kth.se/~gkreitz/spotify-p2p10/
  3. Aren't you in med school CJ? You should know better. That sucks though. Speaking of injuries and taking NSAIDS, I went to the orthopedist today to find out what is wrong with my bicep. It has been hurting/inflamed for the last 3+ weeks (the massage therapist injured it while I was getting a massage). I've already seen my GP but wanted a second opinion since it is not getting better and it is the bicep where I have bicep tendonitis. They think it is just a bad bruise and are sending me back to PT for a month. This news is certainly much better than a tear but still frustrating that it isn't better yet. I'm tired of being old and injured and tired of not being able to work out at the gym. Luckily I have a topical NSAID now (Voltaren Gel) so I won't end up like CJ.
  4. I am confused, I thought the Triode software was for Logitech players. Are there any 3rd party Spotify streaming apps for Mac (that would not be PTP and would stream at 320)? I want to stream from my office/home computer which is where I do most of my listening. I am fine with 160 on my phone. Perhaps I should try out google play. Is all there steaming at 320?
  5. I don't want to use the Spotify desktop app because it uses PTP instead of streaming from the server- so I was trying out the web player. I have a premium membership for now.
  6. ^I meant the web player, not the desktop player. I am guessing there is no way to stream at 320kbps with the web player. There is nothing you can change in the settings.
  7. Does anyone know how to change the streaming qualify on the spotify web player? According to this, the web player streaming default is ~160 kbps. I would prefer to not use the desktop player until it is no longer PTP. Edit: This seems to imply that the highest quality streaming one can do with the web based player is 160 kbps. Ugh, so frustrating. https://support.spotify.com/us/learn-more/faq/#!/article/What-bitrate-does-Spotify-use-for-streaming/?in=search Why in the world would you allow higher quality streaming on ios and android devices than you do for the web based player???
  8. Ah, that makes a lot more sense now - But I still don't like it. Perhaps I'll try out the web browser interface until they change. Does anyone know if the SB Touch app use PTP or server streaming, I'm guessing the latter.
  9. <rant>I just signed up for a 30 day trial of Spotify (not attached to my FB account) and so far I hate hate hate it. (I was hoping that it would be reasonable since there is an app on Logitech Touch.) The desktop app keeps trying to connect to all kinds of weird sites on weird ports like "Spotify wants to connect to 98.220.235.210 on TCP port 52655" (according to Little Snitch). In this case, it is just Comcast (either an ad or getting information from Spotify). In either case, it is just annoying. Also, I hate the layout of the desktop app (too much crap on it)!!! </rant> I guess I might end up using BeatOff after all.
  10. Just finished Season 1 of a True Detective - liked it a lot and looking forward to Season 2!
  11. http://www.marcurselli.com/2014/03/03/the-truth-about-music-streaming-services-and-the-ultimate-audio-quality-shootout-test-beats-vs-mog-vs-play-music-by-google-vs-rdio-vs-spotify/ Does Beats stream CD quality music over wifi? I thought the best streaming you can get was 320 mp3. I just glanced at the results so maybe his test is flawed.
  12. I really like the Lagavulin 12 cask. I have the Glenfarclas 21yr but it isn't really my thing. It is growing on me though.
  13. I am interested in this as the CD player in our car does not work properly.
  14. I want to accidentally buy a Black Diamond.
  15. Gotta agree with Jack here!!!!!!! I am very interested I how the HA-1 performs as a DAC. It would be sweet for the office.
  16. Shit... why didn't I get HBO before. I've been paying for Netflix disk (and waiting for disks) when I could've had HBOgo all this time to watch everything instantly.
  17. I just added HBO (at least for a couple of months) so I can finally watch this.
