Has anyone actually received a new GS-X in the last two years?
  2. shellylh replied to grawk's topic in Portable Audio
OK, not so bad... except for my wallet.

Serious? I guess it had to happen.

This is one of the reasons that I didn't get the duet. If the Apogee ONE is hissy with IEMs, it will probably be going back - I will just have to spring for a Gilmore lite + Pico DAC for the office. By the way, I just looked at the price of the Gilmore lite, it seems to be $499 now. Wasn't it just recently $399 or I am just being stupid?
  5. Good to know... I guess I use "claw" style.
  6. I finally gave up on Mac mice and got a Logitech

    of course

I had $100 credit at amazon so I ordered the ONE. Hope there is not too much hiss since I plan to use it with the JH13 (or ESW9) at the office.
  9. 27" nice! Anyone been using Chrome for the last couple of days? I am about to download and try it out.

What do you speak of "phone booth?"

Wmcmanus: When I got my Kindle (DX), I was just planning to use it to keep all the papers I would ever need for research (in pdf format) so I would have them at my disposal wherever I might be. However, I found that the Kindle is really nice for reading actual leisure books... much better than a real book for me. I tend to read at night before I go to bed. I would always fall asleep while reading, losing my place. Now the Kindle turns itself off and remembers what page I was reading. Also, it is really nice to be able to change the font size (on Kindle books) especially as one gets older. It would be hard to go back to those old paperbacks now. I just wish I could make the font bigger on pdfs and I would be a happy (er happier) person.
  12. Happy Birthday Marc!

There are events 4.75 miles from my house tonight and tomorrow night. Too busy to go though.
  14. Ok, sorry for picking on you Al, it's just so fun, it is hard to resist. I really shouldn't talk since I haven't finished the SOHA II I started many many months ago. I enjoyed my short time with the eXStata and HE60 (tube - didn't try the ss unfortunately) but my only experience with stats is at meets so I am not really the best person to judge.
  15. I see, assuming deepak doesn't have a secret stash, I'll have to look elsewhere.
  16. Yes, Mark FTW! The few minutes that I listened to the Raven, was sweet indeed. I am looking forward to spending more time with it in the future once it gets tweaked some more. Cordy things can be quite useful, especially if they are the right kind. For instance, suppose you decide to be perverse and put female XLR jacks on your new amp...
  17. Al, I wasn't too impressed with your balanced Bijou. I really think you should turn up the gain on it because it almost sounded as if no source was being played.
  18. asr: That is an nice list. By the way, where did you pick up the Barry Diament-mastered LZ set?
  19. mugdecoffee gets my approval. He's a good guy.
  20. How funny. Your uncle was a very cool and energetic guy. I was glad to meet him. I guess I could mention some impressions from the meet but I don't know if that is appropriate here at head-case. The highlight of the meet for me was the balanced B22 + JH13's (and the awesome speaker rig playing the violin solo). I convinced Jerry to send me some (he sent me 6 demo pairs and one balanced cable). Now I have to send them back though and parting is such sweet sorrow.

Hmm... I see what you are trying to do here. I was hoping to avoid that.

grawk: Do you have the "one" yet? I see that it is now available. I am trying to decide between a duet and a one to possibly replace the Firestone Fubar II + Cute Beyond amp setup in my office. I will mostly use it with a ESW9.
  23. Should I take some CDs with me that it doesn't read or will they just take my word and give me a new one?
  24. I have been having the same problem with my Macbook Pro. For example, it wouldn't read the "Rodrigo y Gabriela 11:11" cd but it would read the dvd that came with it. I have a 3 year warranty (it is about 1 1/2 years old). Should I take it to the Apple store? I really hate going there and would hate to be without my laptop for a day, but if it could fix the problem, it may be worth it.
