  1. They hiss even without a source. Doing some more experiments, it seems that the hiss on the woofer of the "right" one is the noise that is bothering me. It is much louder than the noise on the "left" one. Do you think I should contact the seller? I feel that they would be fine if I were 5-10 feet away but that the hiss bothers me at the desk.
  2. Happy Birthday Duggeh!
  3. Got the Quad's (12L active) today from Lanemart. Set them up. They look and sound great. However, I can hear quite a bit of hiss with no music playing. Perhaps this is because I am too close to them (an arms length away). Is this normal? There is more hiss on one of them than the other (the woofer hisses and hums on one and I basically only get hum on the other woofer - both tweeters hiss).
  4. Mike: I used Mastercard. That looks like a nice stand!
  5. Got my shipping notice too. Let's hope that UPS doesn't screw it up.
  6. Anyone know why the Apple store is down?
  7. Lexus... sweet!
  8. Nice, mine won't be here 'til Monday.
  9. Tori Amos - The Piano: B sides
  10. Greg: sorry for your loss.
  11. I may end up getting a pair of A5's at some later date for the office but for now I will just use my Swan M200's there. As for the Quads, I suppose I will probably want to use these a balanced source instead of the Pico Dac. So I will need to run ~15ft interconnects to them (or completely change my setup which I don't want to do). I assume that this length is fine, right? Also, will there be any problem powering these from a different outlet than the source? Happy Quad Day!
  12. Bought a pair of Quad 12L actives (cherry gloss) from Lanemart on audiogon! The funny thing is that I was just about set to get a pair of Audioengine A5's when I saw these.
  13. Whiskey indeed Al! Luckily you are "connected."
  14. If I remember correctly, the nozzles on the JHA universals were pretty damn big and the only tips I could use were the foam ones included with the demos. When JHAudio sent me the demos, they sent 6 pairs and a ton of foam tips.
  15. Parallels 5 and some other junk (via the MacUpdate Promo 2010 Spring bundle)
  16. Sennheiser HD600 from Headroom
  17. Ok, guess that makes sense. No Iphone/touch (I seem to be one of the only people left) but I should have an Ipad soon and will try out Remote then. For now, I guess I will stick with using itunes via screen share.
  18. Very nice Mike... the bamboo looks sweet.
  19. Does anyone know how to get Front Row working with "share screen?" I have a Mac Mini for a music server (no external monitor hooked up). I am using screen share to control it on my Macbook Pro. Everything works well except if I try to run Front Row, the (mac mini) "screen" goes black. When I press the "arrow" keys, I can hear it clicking so I know it is running Front Row, I just can't see anything.
  20. Thanks Justin.
  21. I would like to use the Pico amp/dac as a DAC, connected to my powered computer speakers. I tried measuring output voltage by connecting one of my multimeter (set to AC voltage) to the 1/8" output and the other to ground (while playing 60Hz tone through the computer but having no headphones/speakers plugged in). I was getting readings that were really low when the volume was low and it got about to 2V on high gain about 3 o'clock. Does this seem correct (who knows if I was doing it right)? I decided to trying using it as a DAC with the volume at 12 o'clock and and the gain on high. There seems to be enough volume for listening at my desk. Is there a correct setting to get a "true" line out? I was a little afraid to turn the volume up to 3 o'clock on high gain when connected to the speakers... probably for no good reason.
  22. I flew back home after living in a hotel for ~2 weeks. It is good to be home.
  23. Happy birthday Smeggy!
  24. Happy birthday Al. Live it up!

Not bad. I have been thinking of getting a pair of HD600 for the office. I have really regretted selling my HD580 a while back.
