  1. OK, I guess I will just practice sharpening the CC's then.
  2. 240 Tojiro DP and 1000/6000 grit waterstone. If I don't screw this one up and manage to keep all my fingers and toes, I may move up a Hattori at some point.
  3. Damn them to hell!
  4. Guessing it looks slightly smaller on you. I have decided to go big and keep the watch. I like it.
  5. Nixon Time Teller P. I love the look but it is pretty huge on me (it is a unisex watch and I have fairly small wrists) - so I haven't decided if I will keep it.
  6. Usually I am not so fond of approximations, but it'll do.
  7. OK
  8. Maybe there was a chisel in the bread?
  9. OK, I see that the Damascus blade has a "cobalt alloy core sandwiched between 37 layers of stainless steel" and the regular DP is cobalt alloy core sandwiched between 2 layers of ss. I am just not sure what effect this will have on the knife when cutting.
  10. Do you know what is the difference between the DP and the DP Damascus, besides the Damascus looking cooler and being slightly more expensive?
  11. Didn't notice the handle on the Flash, definitely not my style. I am wondering whether I should start with a cheaper knife like the Tojiro before moving up to the Hattori (in case I mess it up sharpening it). I can always use it as a second/backup knife in the future. Also, I wonder what my husband will think when he find out I spend >$200 on a single knife??? I don't like the handle on the Shun so that is out. Some people have complained about the Torjiro PS chipping, for instance when cutting bread. I wonder if that if that is actually that common though.
  12. Yes, very nice Andy.
  13. What are your thoughts on the Tojiro Flash or Powered Steel Chef's knives? Tojiro Flash 9.5-in. Chef's Knife - Tojiro Chef's Knives Tojiro Powdered Steel 9.5-in. Chef's Knife - Tojiro Chef's Knives
  14. Cool, we need good teachers in the high schools! I know a couple of people who did the same thing. Hope things work out for her.
  15. Happy Birthday Brent!
  16. Sounds good.
  17. Al, glad to hear you made it back safely. Sounds like a pretty crazy trip. I assume Claire has some sort of academic position? Adjunct? Universities have been hit pretty hard, especially in Cali. That is too bad. Exactly what I was thinking. Sorry about your friend Mike. Congrats Aimess and bhjazz!
  18. Happy Birthday Raffy and Jin!
  19. I am quite liking the A5's.
  20. Paging Jacob and Greg....
  21. Nine Inch Nails - Ghosts I - IV
  22. Reminds me of when I used to set a place at the breakfast table for my dog growing up... until my mom found out.
  23. I thought about getting a pair of A2's for my dad for his desktop setup. Right now he has a pair of Polk R150's and Sonic T-amp. The A2's would certainly have a smaller footprint. I wonder if they would sound better. The A5's sound a tiny bit boomy but perhaps some isolation pads or rubber feet would help that. Other than that, they sound great and are certainly loud enough for the bedroom tv/ipod setup.
  24. Bought a couple of plane tickets (both work related though) and got a pair of Audioengine A5's in the mail... oh yeah, and did a lot of work. I was going to use the A5's in the office but decided to put them in the bedroom instead.
