The NEX-5 seems to not get as good reviews as the GF1 (at least this was my interpretation but I having been paying that much attention to reviews). Plus, I like the look of the GF1 better.

Do you think it is worth seeing if Panasonic comes out with a "GF2?" Think the price may go lower in the not too distant future? I would like to have a camera that I can carry around with me all the time and I am just not happy with the Panasonic ZS3.
  3. Jalapenos are a lot less spicy after baking. I have served it to groups of grad students and they go really fast. It has been my experience that younger, crisper jalapenos tend to be milder than older ones but maybe this has just been pure coincidence. Make sure to scrape out the seeds or else they will be hot.
  4. I am not surprised by this. My husband's brother bought their mom an ipad. When I visited her in August, she didn't even know what they app store was (even after going to a class on how to use the ipad ). I ``forced'' her to set up an account of her own and downloaded some basic free apps. I guess my husband's brother had set up the ipad for her and she was just using the mail program and safari.
  5. Jalapenos stuffed with Goat, cream, and sharp cheddar cheese and wrapped in bacon (and then baked) is not fancy but is quite delicious.
  6. Nice Dinny! What are you going to make first?
  7. Texas Ok, more specifically, the great Central Market of Texas
  8. Mesquite BBQ Dry Roasted Cashews - even better than the Garlic Roasted Cashews
  9. ^Nice Mike. My husband needs to get a new computer. He currently has a Dell running XP and I am trying to convince him to get a Mac. Since he carries his computer back and forth to work everyday, I am thinking of trying to convince him to get a 13" Macbook Pro (wished they had the newer i5 processors though). He has a 24" monitor in the office and will probably get a new monitor for the house. The most important thing for him is that it have a decent size screen so he can use it while traveling - no 11", have a long battery life (8-10 hours would be preferable), not be too heavy (as light as possible but the battery life is more important), and not be over $1600. I have had a hard time finding something with the battery life and form factor of the Macbook Pro 13". He doesn't do any computing/gaming on his computer. I was hoping the Air would have a better battery life but it looks like that isn't going to fit the bill. Also, if he gets the 13", should he spend the $300 extra on the 2.66Ghz processor over the 2.4Ghz processor. For the extra $300, he could get a new monitor at home. Any suggestions for monitors that go well with the MBP? Oh yeah (I guess this is the wrong place to ask but...), any other non-Mac suggestions I should look at?
  10. For what it is worth, I have a pair of Westone custom canal earplugs (#40-4). They are made of some sort of softish material. They are very comfortable and work better than the standard foam for keeping out noise (for example, my husband's snoring). However, they are not as comfortable to wear as the foamies at night since I end up sleeping on my side a lot... at least with the way I sleep. They are great to have around during the day if I want to get some reading done and students are making noise outside my office.

  12. Thanks for the support guys. I am feeling better today.
  13. The audience towards the end of a three week math graduate student conference in Europe in the middle of summer is a very ripe environment.
  14. Roasted garlic cashews. Cashews are addictive.

The Rethm sounds very interesting but I don't need another amp, right?
  16. I like people who wash (their jeans) regularly.
  17. Hi Brent! I, for one, am hoping that CJ+Britt can score 6+ points against Jacksonville! I mean, someone has to give Jeff some competition, right?
  18. I like the NY times app. The previous limited selection was a bit annoying.
  19. Thanks for all the support guys. Ranger was indeed a great dog!
  20. My family dog passed away this morning. It was tough to see him go but it was his time. He was in a lot of pain for the last week and hasn't been his happy self for a while. I am glad he is at peace now. Here is the web page I made in memory of him. I will miss him a lot.
