  1. Hope everyone feels better. I woke up with a sore throat this morning but I am feeling better now. Spent the late afternoon "playing" with my new quad-core MBP ... now I have to finish all the work I was supposed to do then before going to bed.
  2. Great picture Al! I'll have to add the Monte Carlo Cocktail to the list to try, it looks good (although I do really like the Old Pal so I am not sure will beat it ) Today I got a nice little package full of Awesomeness from Mike the ThreeFloydsZealot . The glasses are even nicer looking in person that in the picture! Thanks Mike. I didn't have a cold FFF beers to pour so I had to make do with a Dale's Pale Ale. Cannot wait to try the Behemoth. Now I am sipping some Metaxa Grand Fine while trying to finish up work for the day.
  3. Had the Redbreast 12 in Tampa (I think that was the 12) which is what convinced me to buy the 15. I think the 15 is slightly smoother but that could be my imagination. I obviously should have bought the 12 and 15 to compare. Marc is kicking my butt on the Anvil list I imagine. How many left Marc? Nice Blood and Sand!
  4. A healthy pour of Redbreast 15... I do like. Cheers!
  5. Damn, I forgot to resize again... I will fix it.
  6. Marc: What does your weird concoction taste like? Al: How do you like the Perucchi vermouth? Cooking with Shelly (a Cooking with Colin spinoff) A glass of 2009 Parker Estate Cabernet Sauvignon with dinner. Tonight I made some Tuscan Lemon Grilled Chicken, with roasted sweet potatoes (sprinkled with oil oil, brown sugar, salt and pepper), and roasted green beans (with onions, garlic, sprinkled with olive oil, salt, pepper and a little parmesan at the end). Tasted much better than it looks in the picture.
  7. Cocktails of the Day! Before dinner: HC Rum Old Fashioned Wow, the Smith and Cross is really a lot different than I imagined and it packed quite a kick. Not sure I should have been drinking this on an empty stomach. I am not sure I am a fan of the S&C yet, it will take some time to get used to it. 2 oz Smith & Cross Navy Strength rum 1 sugar cube 2 dashes of Angostura bitters 1 dash of sparkling water After dinner: Jack Rose (Anvil) 3/2 oz Calvados XO (sub for applejack) 3/4 oz lemon juice 2 dashes of homemade grenadine I thought this drink was quite bland and not worth drinking out poured it out. Maybe it was the Calvados, maybe too much lemon. Not a fan. Knickerbocker a la Monsieur I also used Smith & Cross in this but it worked better because it was more than rum and a bitter of sugar/bitters. Still gives quick a kick though. I also really like this drink. 3/2 oz Smith and Cross rum 1/2 oz Senior Curacao 1/2 oz Monin Raspberry syrup 3/4 oz Meyer lemon juice Splash of pineapple juice 2 dashes of cherry bitters
  8. Guess you have been talking to Reks?
  9. Old Raj Gin & Fever Tree Tonic with a dash of grenadine
  10. I stocked up on rum but don't have any lime in the house.
  11. Hehe, like the pics Al!
  12. Rahr and Sons Winter Warmer Bourbon Barrel Aged Ale (Forth Worth, TX brew) and Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Grand Cru. Both very good! (I didn't have a camera with me so I stole these pics off that internet thingy.)
  13. That is a PITA Dan. My taxes aren't too bad but I always owe some small amount so I procrastinate. The biggest pain for me is when I am on a panel at a certain government agency in Arlington... for some reason unknown to me, they always reimburse expenses as income... and then you gotta do paperwork if you don't want to pay taxes on it. At least I don't have to fill out state income tax forms.
  14. Exactly what I what thinking.
  15. Congrat Mike!
  16. With Tex Mex take out dinner: Casa Noble Anejo tequila + Paula's Texas Orange Liquor + lime juice margarita (so good) Now: The Liberal with 3/2 oz Vintage 17yr bourbon + 1 oz Carpano Antica + 1/2 oz Torani Amer + 2 dashes of Regan's orange bitters (I could drink quite a few of these!)
  17. That is the most reasonable thing to do but of course it would involve going to the mall.
  18. Happy belated birthday! -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
  19. Happy Birthday Nate!!! Have a great one, you deserve it.
  20. A lifetime supply of free Apple products for me and all my HC buddies would be a good compromise I think.
  21. I thought about purchasing the brain bag but thought this would keep me from carring too much junk around that I didn't need.
  22. Decided that, perhaps, carrying my loaded hybrid messenger bag/backpack (Chrome SOMA) everyday was hurting my left shoulder (since my left shoulder has been hurting lately). So I have ordered a Tom Bihn Smart Alec backpack to carry to/from work (in black/steel). Hopefully this will help.
  23. 15" Quad Core MBP has shipped but won't be here until Monday.
