  1. Mike, Glad to hear your mom is "ok." The ER is no fun. Hope she can fight off the virus quickly and feel better soon.
  2. Water (lots). I would take a picture but it is far too exciting, you couldn't handle it.
  3. Better battery life would be nice. Guessing a couple of extra hours?
  4. Been feeling pretty tired the last couple of days and woke up with a sore throat this morning... looks like the stress and lack of sleep has taken its toll. Now, I just have to figure out how to not get hubby sick, that is the last thing he needs.
  5. I like those shoes Dinny! How soon is now? Evidentally too soon
  6. I am very tempted to buy an 11" MBA (1.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, 64GB HD) for travel. The 15" is great but just not very portable. I would basically use this for web browsing, responding to emails, watching netflix, and LaTex. The Ipad is nice but sometimes I forget to keep my work computer on and then I cannot Tex, etc. Also, the Air would be smaller than a keyboard + Ipad. The question is whether I should wait to find out if it gets a faster Sandy Bridge processor in June (or whenever this is supposed to happen). I guess the battery life may go down with the new processors though. Any thoughts besides get both? Also, anyone frustrated with the speed of the Air using some applications?
  7. Glad for the good news about your mom. Seems like quite a fighter! My hubby came home today. We are having a bit of disagreements as to what he should be eating (especially since we had different doctors tell us different things) which is frustrating. He is feeling great and I am totally stressed but other than that everything is going well. I am going to cross my fingers that we don't have any more trips back to the hospital in the short term.
  8. Glad you liked it! Dan: That Sazerac looks awesome (except for the lime of course) ;P
  9. He already takes Metamucil everyday, I will have to start making him Metamucil and broccoli shakes for every meal. Yuck.
  10. I like Malbec but am drinking water instead.
  11. Oooh, what did you get? I got my ID in the mail today but haven't had time to open it up yet. I should also be getting a TB small cafe bag in the mail soon. I need to stop spending money on bags! This is all your fault Dinny!
  12. Got great news today, no surgery for hubby!!!!!!!!!!! He has been doing really well. His white blood cell count was 9200 today (vs 17000 when he came in on Sunday night) which is in the normal range (although at the high end). He was allowed to have a liquid diet today and should be allowed real food tomorrow. They estimate that he will be able to go home Saturday morning (but might let him go home tomorrow afternoon). He also feeling really good. Just thought I would update everyone.
  13. Agreed, nice to see all the GC glasses being put to good use! I am glad to see Dan enjoying some fine cocktails. Sazerac cocktail is one of my absolute favorites (if done right of course)! Al: Those drinks look delicious! I like your twists. I cannot even remember the last time I enjoyed a nice cocktail (ok, thay may be a bit of an exaggeration).
  14. Dinny, he is getting morphine but mostly for the shingles pain. I wasn't aware of this (that the pain meds could mask other symptoms and create other gut issues).
  15. I think he would be happy at this point if he was allowed to drink water.
  16. Those are both just unbelievably beautiful!
  17. Just wanted to say what a great and supportive group you all are! I am back from the hospital and going to try and get to sleep and get a bunch of rest. I have no clue what I am supposed to lecture on in my classes tomorrow morning but too bad.
  18. So here is the update, not really so good. He has diverticulitis and a pretty bad infection He also has a small "hole" in his color but it is only leaking air at this time. He is looking at 3-5 days in the hospital (he was admitted early this morning) if everything goes well (lots of antibiotics to kill the infection and no eating to let the bowel rest... just iv drip). A slightly worse possibility is that he has to have surgery (actually two surgeries) if the infection doesn't respond to the antibiotics. A much worse possibility is that it bursts.... yeah, that one is no good at all and I think that would put him at months in the hospital. I am super tired since I got less than 2 hours sleep (even when I got home around 7am, I had trouble sleeping because I am a worrier). As for the two events. He told a doctor over a week and a half ago about the abdominal pain (it must have been inflamed then) and the fevers. I think the fevers (since they were pretty high) must have been related to this. Unfortunately, THAT doctor said that he probably just the flu or some other virus and that he should get rest (they also brought up the idea of the singles). Somehow we were too focused on the pink eye and redness around the eye to pay much attention to the abdominal pain. Then I thought the abdominal pain was a side effect of valacyclovir he was on, so we were just going to wait until he was done taking it... that was dumb, I should've called a doctor about the prolonger abdominal pain earlier. Anyway, I guess it is possible that the diverticulitis could have weakened his immune system which led to the shingles, who knows though. At least we went to the emergency room last night, who knows what could have happened! Thanks for all the support.
