  1. That looks good. I need to get some Clement rum.
  2. Yeah, I suppose I would have to go through a lot of Febreeze that way.
  3. Nice, Colin! I finished putting together my compost tumbler.
  4. After some thought, I decided to go back and get some more Cointreau, it just works in a margarita.
  5. Another margarita, this time with Senor CuraƧao, not nearly as good.
  6. Sounds like a lot of fun Al! I had a margarita with my new bottle of El Tesoro Platinum tequila with dinner. It was magically delicious! Hopefully the bottle lasts til Monday. 3/2 oz El Tesoro Platinum tequila 1/2 oz Cointreau 3/4 oz lime juice Agave syrup (not really measured)
  7. Bought some El Tesoro Platinum and just opened the bottle to sip a bit. It is really quite nice! I thought I had a bunch of Cointreau left but just found out that it is almost gone. I have plenty of other orange liqueurs to use however: Gran Gala, Senor Curacao, Paula's Texas Orange Liqueur (and GM which I will save for myself) so I should be ok there. Gene: I will be quietly rooting for the Red Sox this Sunday in Minute Maid Park. Actually, the Stros suck so bad this year, it doesn't actually hurt to see them lose anymore... it is just a fact of life.
  8. Absolutely classic. I can't stand the stuff made with mixes.
  9. I would like to make margaritas for a 4th of July BBQ we are having on Monday. As much as I like my guests, I don't think I want to use $50 tequila in their margaritas (just because I don't really think they would appreciate it). Any recommendations for budget "party" margarita tequila? Let's say under $35. I was thinking maybe El Tesoro Platinum ($35) or Cazadores Blanco or Reposado ($23/$27). I have had these in bars but don't remember them that well. Any suggestions?
  10. Congrat Stretch! I bought two tickets to the Red Sox game for Sunday.
  11. Thanks for the suggestions Gene and Nate and Dusty. Will definitely drink lots of rum and do Hana and Haleakala. This will be my first time to Hawaii. Hope to get some time planning the rest of the vacation this weekend. Today I finished a two week math program for 20 high school girls that I have been running during the summer (this will be year 4). The group of girls we had this year was really fantastic, the best we have had so far and it is sad to see them go. On the other hand, it will be good to be able to get back to research again.
  12. Happy Birthday Greg!!! I'll drink some wine in your honor tonight.
  13. We are staying at the Honua Kai Resort and Spa (in a studio ocean view room) in Kaanapali. It seemed to get good reviews on tripadvisor, the rooms looked very modern, and they have kitchens. Unfortunately, I don't eat any seafood so I probably won't rush right over to the sushi place. We haven't really figured out what we are going to do while we are there but I am sure some hikes and snorkeling will be in the agenda. Should I smuggle some wine/scotch in my suitcase?
  14. It is a sipping rum for "special" people. Didn't know they made it in a can or exported it. Having some 2009 Nieto Senetiner Reserva Malbec - not bad.
  15. Congrats on the raise Brent, that is a nice number. Hubby and I "bought" (ok... we used ff miles) business/first class plane tickets and made hotel reservations for our trip to Maui this summer!
  16. Last night: Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shut-down Ale on draught
  17. I suppose that would still be drinkable.
  18. Very awesome Bryan, congrat!!! Al: The trip looks great!
  19. Agreed and agreed! Having a Screwdriver with Tito's Handmade Vodka and Simply Orange Juice High Pulp. Takes me back to college (except then I was probably using Tropicana and Stoli).
  20. Started out opening up a bottle of 2010 Alamos Malbec. The taste was bad and the smell reminded me of puke... so it was dumped. Now I am having some 2008 Norton Reserva Malbec - about a million times better than the Alamos. Since I am not asian, I thought it would be quite inappropriate to post a shirtless pic though.
