  1. Don't have any champagne so Parker's 27 will have to do. Cheers, Jacob!
  2. Wow! That is big, that is great! That calls for multi congrats.
  3. Not my favorite but pretty good. It's quite a bit sweeter than a Negroni.
  4. Corn chips would work well. You could also try eggplant if you like that. Kinda like this: http://zehnelfzwolf.wordpress.com/recipes/spicyeggplantspaghetti/
  5. Thistle Flower (similar to a Negroni) 1:1:1 ratio of gin, Bonal, Cynar
  6. For cocktail enthusiasts: Not really that new since I have had them for possibly a year but I do really love the Riedel Vinum Martini glasses (hold 4 5/8 ounces when full). They are the perfect size, have a classic shape, have a nice weight, and nice thickness (or I should say thinness). They are around $20 a piece and worth every penny.
  7. Following Al, I am drinking The Mountain Man. I have to agree, it is very nice! Wait, are there any bourbon/rye drinks that I don't like??? 1.75 oz bourbon .50 oz Cocchi Americano .50 oz Bonal 2 dashes orange bitters maraschino cherry for garnish
  8. Didn't find anything interesting to make with dried chipotle peppers so I made something up myself and it was damn good. I like how the spiciness and tanginess (sp?) interact. Ingredients (no real measurements): 2 "half" chicken breasts (from 1 whole chicken breast) 2 dried chipotle peppers very finely chopped (aka minced I suppose) lemon zest from 2 medium lemons lemon juice from 1 lemon flour 2 eggs lots of garlic powder freshly ground sea salt freshly ground black peppercorns McCormick "italian seasoning" (marjoram, thyme, rosemary, savory, sage, oregano, and basil) olive oil white vermouth or white wine (I used Dolin blanc) basmati rice butter I would have prefer some fresh herbs (like thyme, sage, and rosemary) to the McCormick mix but that was all I had at the time. The basic idea: Pound the chicken breasts to make them flatter. Add lots of garlic powder, chipotle peppers (keeping the seeds), salt, pepper, italian seasoning, and lemon zest to the flour and mix up. Use enough flour to coat the chicken but not so that there is a large flour:other stuff ratio. Dip each chicken breast in egg, then the flour mixture, then the egg again, then the flour mixture again. Add a layer of olive oil to a pan (I like to use cast iron) and cook on medium to brown both sides. Then let them cook on low until they are cooked. Add some butter, lemon juice, and vermouth and cook on low for a few minutes. Cook some rice (I used basmati rice) and then add a bit of butter to the rice. Serve the chicken over the rice. Drizzle some of the leftover juice from the pan over the chicken. If you want, squeeze a little more lemon over the chicken. Add more peppers if you want it spicier.
  9. I am surprised there is not a "remote" app built into Lion to control Apple TV. Is there one and I don't know about it. I can see myself using the Air as a replacement for the ipad and that would be a nice feature. I know that you can use airplay via itunes but I would like something that I can use to navigate Netflix via Apple TV.
  10. Raffy, I used to have a lot of problems with pain on the ball of my right foot and always thought it was better to have lots of padding in my shoes. Now that I have started wearing barefoot-like shoes, I actually have less trouble with this. I suppose it is the way that I walk in them. Of course, I don't really run much so I cannot say much about that. If you are interested in something like the Minimum but want a little more padding, you might try something like the New Balance MT101.
  11. I am getting used to Lion and it is not so bad after changing a few preferences and figuring out how to get more spaces. When I first set up the computer, I decided to turn on Firevault 2 before I filled up the harddrive. I have never used it before because it didn't work with Time Machine but the new one is suppose to be "better" (even though it is only 128-bit encryption vs the older 256 bit) so I thought I would give it a try. But I am wondering if it is really necessary given the slight performance loss and the fact that Air only has a 1.6Ghz processor to start with. I keep all/most sensitive information in an encrypted disk image already - it would just be for extra protection - in case I downloaded something and forgot about it or something like that.
  12. Those make much more sense. My brain is not worthy of any organic parallel computing - spent too much time at HC meets. Oh yeah, the 11" is has some super awesomeness to it.
  13. That is good, I am still suspicious since it was already registered on the previous "page."
  14. Got the 11" Air today (2 days earlier than estimated)! I a bit concerned. When setting up the Air, it asked me to join a network... no problem, it asked me to register it... no problem, then it asked me to create a user account... again no problem. However, as soon as I hit continue it delayed for a second saying "connecting to apple" or something like that at the bottom of the screen. I unclicked the option to log on with apple id since I definitely do not want that feature. Why should they be sending any information about my local account to apple? Does apple now have my password (encrypted obviously, hopefully) stored on their server somewhere.
  15. Awesome idea for a thread! I am totally going to check out the moisture wicking clothing and sports bra. I admit that I also work out in crappy cheap clothing and sports bras and could use to upgrade. As for the Gator, I too love mine (in olive). [i wish I would have bought an HC Gator.] I use it all the time. It is the perfect gym bag for me. I have also used it to carry camera gear: I bought a Think Tank Digital Holster 20 + Think Tank belt to carry my camera around in Hawaii since I needed something that I could use while hiking. It fit perfectly (vertically) in the Gator and left room for an extra lens, a flash, batteries + charger, filters, a water bottle holder, and an p&s camera. I love that it has a place for a water bottle on both sides too. I could see using it as a lunch box too. As for my favorite new thing, I will add the Think Tank Digital Holster 20 + belt. I look like a total dork but it is great for hiking and will save my shoulders.
  16. Moar Cynar. I like the Bensonhurst better. Berlioni 1 oz Plymouth gin ⅔ oz Cynar ½ oz Dolin dry vermouth Stir over ice then strain in to an ice filled old-fashioned glass. Garnish with a large twist of orange zest.
  17. My normal Sunday evening meal: med-rare natural strip steak cooked on the BBQ with drizzled with butter, baked potato with butter and sour cream, and salad (tomatoes, lettuce, pistachios, cucumbers, vidalia onions, goat cheese, and chunky blue cheese dressing) with some 2005 Lava Cab.
