  1. I've thought of getting one of these. I am also paranoid.
  2. ^^Nice, Al's?
  3. Damn, that really sucks. Hope you caught it early. I hate taking antibiotics.
  4. Nikon 40mm f/2.8 DX AF-S Micro lens I had some amazon cash and thought this would be nice as a light "all-in-one" outdoor walkaround plus closeup. It seems like a better length than the 60mm (on DX) for everyday use and is a lot cheaper. It probably couldn't do a great 1:1 macro because of lighting but there are many times that I am walking around taking pictures and I would like to take some closeups of flowers (closer than I can get with the 35mm non-micro). Also, the f/2.8 should be ok for outdoor photos. Should be able to take some decent food pictures as well. Plan to still keep the 35mm f/1.8 and 100mm f/2.8 macro that I have of course.
  5. Congrats Jacob! Sounds pretty cool (except for the lack of hardwood flooring).
  6. Happy 20th/25th Al and Claire!!!
  7. Cherry bitters are good. Don't you have some Vya sweet vermouth? That would be better than the Noilly Prat IMO.
  8. Looks cool but doesn't it make the laptop heavier?
  9. This. Man up Dinny.
  10. That doesn't sound very promising.
  11. Hehe. Red Birds win, Braves lose!!!
  12. Unless you decide to use Panther Piss for the whiskey.
  13. Agreed completely. The vermouth is really a key component. Carpano Antica and Cocchi Torino really shine in this drink. Want (the Bittercubes cherrybark-vanilla bitters)!
  14. Joining the Rittenhouse Manhattan crowd (with Cocci Torino sweet vermouth and a dash of cherry bitters).
  15. ^Nice one.
  16. A Naamanhattan does sound pretty good right about now.
  17. [steve]Nice wood Jeff[/steve]
  18. It was great and I wish I had one one right now. Last night I made a couple of drinks for hubby and me. For hubby: Hand of Glory I took a sip of it. It was ok but nothing special. I also took a sip of the rum and I do like the Diplomatico Reserva rum a lot. 2 oz Diplomatico Reserva Rum .75 oz Punt e Mes .25 oz Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur .25 oz Gran Classico 2 dashes Boker's Bitters I made myself a Mauri but didn't really like it. I think I don't like cocktail onions, at least with tequila and vodka. Maybe next time I will just pour the tequila/vokda mixture over the cocktail onions instead of adding the brine. 2 oz peppercorn infused Russian Standard vodka 2 oz Partida anejo tequila 1/2 oz onion brine 2 dashes lime juice Shake with lumps of cracked ice. Strain into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a cocktail onion or three and a squeeze of lime. Now having a Margarita (Espolon Reposado tequila and Creole Shrubb orange liqueur) and watching the Cardinals devour the Carlos Lee and the AAA Astros. The Espolon makes a very nice margarita especially at its price!
  19. That is, unless the practical kitchen item is a Shigefusa gyuto, right? I am lucky, hubby found this out at an early age when he gave his mother a potholder for Mother's Day because after overhearing her saying she needed a new one. Needless to say, it wasn't her favorite MD gift. Luckily he was cute so wasn't given up for adoption.
  20. Sorry Ken. Those bank robbers sound really stupid.
  21. Happy Birthday guys!
  22. Sounds tasty.
  23. Oops (I realized that I had typed Astros beat the Astros... now fixed). I made a Mauri this evening but didn't like it so I dumped it (pics tomorrow). Perhaps I don't like cocktail onions. Now I am having orange juice and Rain Vodka. I figure that I should at least have some orange juice if I have a drink... since I am still sick (have had a headache for 2 days now which is quite annoying).
  24. ^Yum! Cardinals beat the Carlos Lee and the AAA Astros! Now tied with Atlanta for the wild card race. Cheers all!
