  1. Cherry bitters are good. Don't you have some Vya sweet vermouth? That would be better than the Noilly Prat IMO.
  2. Looks cool but doesn't it make the laptop heavier?
  3. Unless you decide to use Panther Piss for the whiskey.
  4. Agreed completely. The vermouth is really a key component. Carpano Antica and Cocchi Torino really shine in this drink. Want (the Bittercubes cherrybark-vanilla bitters)!
  5. Joining the Rittenhouse Manhattan crowd (with Cocci Torino sweet vermouth and a dash of cherry bitters).
  6. A Naamanhattan does sound pretty good right about now.
  7. It was great and I wish I had one one right now. Last night I made a couple of drinks for hubby and me. For hubby: Hand of Glory I took a sip of it. It was ok but nothing special. I also took a sip of the rum and I do like the Diplomatico Reserva rum a lot. 2 oz Diplomatico Reserva Rum .75 oz Punt e Mes .25 oz Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur .25 oz Gran Classico 2 dashes Boker's Bitters I made myself a Mauri but didn't really like it. I think I don't like cocktail onions, at least with tequila and vodka. Maybe next time I will just pour the tequila/vokda mixture over the cocktail onions instead of adding the brine. 2 oz peppercorn infused Russian Standard vodka 2 oz Partida anejo tequila 1/2 oz onion brine 2 dashes lime juice Shake with lumps of cracked ice. Strain into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a cocktail onion or three and a squeeze of lime. Now having a Margarita (Espolon Reposado tequila and Creole Shrubb orange liqueur) and watching the Cardinals devour the Carlos Lee and the AAA Astros. The Espolon makes a very nice margarita especially at its price!
  8. That is, unless the practical kitchen item is a Shigefusa gyuto, right? I am lucky, hubby found this out at an early age when he gave his mother a potholder for Mother's Day because after overhearing her saying she needed a new one. Needless to say, it wasn't her favorite MD gift. Luckily he was cute so wasn't given up for adoption.
  9. Sorry Ken. Those bank robbers sound really stupid.
  10. Oops (I realized that I had typed Astros beat the Astros... now fixed). I made a Mauri this evening but didn't like it so I dumped it (pics tomorrow). Perhaps I don't like cocktail onions. Now I am having orange juice and Rain Vodka. I figure that I should at least have some orange juice if I have a drink... since I am still sick (have had a headache for 2 days now which is quite annoying).
  11. ^Yum! Cardinals beat the Carlos Lee and the AAA Astros! Now tied with Atlanta for the wild card race. Cheers all!
  12. Good luck Wonder Woman! I am happy to donate a little.
  13. Good luck Ken! Glad you are feeling a bit better Brent. I want to be a Winnie the Pimp for Halloween. I am going to be Piglet the Pimp for Halloween.
  14. Good to know about the Mandarine v Shrubb. I really love the Shrubb and find myself reaching for it everytime I make a margarita. Unfortunately this means the Shrubb bottle is almost empty and I have almost a full bottle Cointreau. Looks like it is time to have some people over for Margaritas to use it up.
  15. I didn't know you wanted to check the bag. I was suggesting doing something like the AirBoss for clothes and toiletries (Al and Jim have used it for 2 weeks worth of clothing I believe - see previous posts) and a *smaller* laptop bag for stuff like papers/laptop, stuff you may need for business (like Tom Bihn ID or maybe something smaller). I have carried an Aeronaut (with two packing cubes in the middle section) + Tom Bihn ID successfully for week long trips with no problem. Of course, I am slightly smaller than you so my clothes may take up less space. I think it really depends what you plan on taking. The reason I suggested the Air Boss is that I think it might be better if you are packing things like suit jackets. It can also probably hold more than the Aeronaut since Cordura seems to expand more whereas the Aeronaut really keeps its shape. I cannot really help out with wheeled suggestions since all the wheelies I have are pretty crappy and cheap.
  16. Marc: Are you looking for a carryon or bag to check? I bet Red Oxx Air Boss or Aeronaut plus "personal item" for non-clothing items might be good enough for your needs. The Air Boss can hold a lot of stuff since it expands more than the Aeronaut but doesn't have backpack straps. If you are interested, I can pack some clothes in them for you to see.
