  1. Make sure he has a few kegs of Mountain Dew so he doesn't fall asleep and lose your place in line though.
  2. Hope you feel better. Colds suck. I got together with Al (pabbi1) and Alex (monsieurguzel) for a mini meet this evening. Alex had a pair of SR-009 that he hadn't been able to try out since he is still waiting for his BHSE. We were happy to provide amps to get a chance to listen. All I can say is that they are fucking fantastic. I am seriously thinking of selling a bunch of gear (LCD-2, Woo Audio WA5LE, ... ) to justify getting a pair. They sounded great with both amps there (Cavalli Audio LL and KGSS). I loved that they sounded great with all types of music. Basically, The PS Audio PWD Mark II (Alex's) + KGSS + SR-009 was as good as I've heard and I want a pair. It was also very nice to meet Alex. A few pics.
  3. You don't like my fancy banana stand? Don't worry I have plenty of shelves and floorspace for piles of unorganized papers.
  4. Thank you. I am enjoying it. All I need now is a 27" ACD. Too bad they are all glossy screens.
  5. Made the ECD-1 part of my desktop setup. It a bit large, but I can live with it until I find a smaller worthy contender. I cannot bring myself to sell it but have mostly been using the PWD in my main system.
  6. A really big congrat to you and your family! Welcome to the world Myles!
  7. Sure. Speaking of which, I just finished writing a midterm. Do you think I should explicitly state that they can use a slide rule? I wouldn't want there to be any confusion.
  8. I don't allow any calculators on my exams.
  9. @Todd: Thanks for the tip. I emailed Sean and he thinks he has extra original tweeters and will ship one to me for not much more than shipping. He also mentioned that Danny at GR Research sells the upgrade tweeter/crossover they used to make the Encore version of the speaker. I may see about getting this when I have more time to do this upgrade. Thinking of maybe using these in the bedroom or office.
  10. Those must have been some big pours.
  11. Sorry, that is reserved for Vegas.
  12. Made some roasted butternut squash on brown rice with parmigiano-reggiano, and goat cheese and roasted beet salad tonight. It was delicious.
  13. Shit, I forgot to pay attention before snipping. The only difference between the two sides of the tweeter is a red stripe with a sharpie. On the other tweeter, that is connected to the red wire. I am not sure the pictures will help very much. The tweeter looks rather generic. I also took a picture of the crossover. I'll try sending an email to Sean to see if he knows of a replacement (and whether I need to replace both).
  14. Very jealous Nate! Sucks about the sickness Mikey.
  15. Snipped the wires to the tweeter and tested it. It measures "infinite" resistance. I guess that means the tweeter is blown. Any way I can find out what kind of tweeter to replace it with (or what to replace both with)? I don't see any markings on it.
  16. I ordered the Monitor Audio RX6 since that was the one I kept coming back to. If I like them, I'll get the matching center. If not, I'll send them back to Audio Advisor. Hopefully, I can find a suitable chair for that spot for the future.
  17. Starting to think more about the Swan 6.1. They seem to fit all of my requirements. People have compared them to the Paradigm 100 but not sure. Anyone heard these? Steve? Are they bright, neutral, dark, bloomy? Nevermind: I just found out that they used to sell these on av123 and that company left a bad taste in my mouth.
  18. ^lol. That is just what I was looking for. The Von Schweikert VR-33s sounds like it is a pretty sweet sounding speaker. I don't mind the all black, but they wouldn't last long in the house. A little about the price I was looking at too.
  19. That is what I was thinking/hoping. I can move it over a little but don't think it would help. That chair is really huge. Nobody sits in the chair unless we have company over (in which case the speaker isn't in use). Unfortunately hubby insists that we have some sort of chair over there. I mentioned have a plant but it was a no go. Thanks for all the suggestions for speakers guys. Unfortunately, I guess I am almost as picky as hubby cuz I don't really like the look of most of them (at least for a living room). The Swans look nice but I have a pair of their active speakers MKII and wasn't so impressed with the sound (I guess that doesn't mean much though). Also they are 70lbs EACH. Since I have to move the speakers every once in a while to get in back of the TV, I am not sure I want to get something that heavy. I was really set on the Monitor Audio RX7, I keep going back to that one (based on the sound I heard from the RS6, the looks, price and the fact that it had a front port). But then I realized there was a typo about the height on their webpage. It says it is 37 5/8" with plinth and feet - don't think that includes spikes. It also says it is 905mm tall. Well, 905mm ~ 35 5/8". Perhaps if I used spikes (with a metal base under them since I have hardwood floors) I could get it to ~37". That is still about an inch shorter than my current speakers. Sigh. Probably should get front ported bookshelves (like Paradigm Studio 20) but I really want to get towers so it is hard to bring myself to do that (plus I don't like the look of the Paradigm Studio). Anyway, just complaining and thinking outloud now. I really need to find a smaller chair, perhaps with no arms.
  20. Oops, I meant matching center, not tweeter. Sure, send a pic. Not sure I'll go that way but I appreciate your offer.
