  1. Picked up the Retrospective 7 from the office yesterday and have been comparing the Urban Disguise 50 to the Retro 7/10. I think I am going to send both of them back and get the UD 35 and UD 40. I decided that I really like the look and feel of the 50 but it is a little too big (and heavy) for someone my size. I think the 35 will be plenty big enough for Macbook Air and camera + other junk when I want to have a laptop. I am thinking that the 40 will be a nice carry around bag and it will be easier to access stuff than the 35 since it is horizontal vs vertical. Here are some quick picks if anyone is interested in the size comparisons.
  2. Dinny, you could also pick up a couple of books to get you started. I found this to be very helpful when I wanted to stop using "auto mode." This book was pretty helpful understand basic concepts. I also picked up a book on the D90 (you would obviously want one for the D7000).
  3. That is the one thing I don't like about the Air.
  4. Yeah, I was pretty surprised. We were on a newish Continental (now United) plane. They had mostly old movies but lots of good ones and 60 to choose from.
  5. Thanks for sharing Steve. That was quite moving.
  6. Looks like an excellent day Al... do you think the ballpark would fit in the fax machine?
  7. Except the 40 doesn't have a laptop compartment (which is what I wanted). I might try the 35 which has a laptop compartment and is smaller. I just don't like that it is vertical which makes things on the bottom hard to access (and I don't have a super long zoom lens).
  8. Watched The Godfather, The Godfather II, and (part of) The Godfather III on the flight back from Germany. It is great to be back home even if it is like 30 degrees warmer. Overall the conference was really good so it was worth the jet lag and travel.
  9. I didn't get the Retrospective 7 before leaving. I am not sure about the UD 50 though - it seems so giant briefcase like and really heavy (even empty). I'd probably only use that for traveling though and keep the Retrospective 7/10 and 5 for everyday around town stuff. I'll have to load it up and see how it carries.
  10. That would probably work... I usually just send things to work.
  11. Tried to buy this shirt but lolshirts doesn't like my work address.
  12. Went to Whole Earth Provisions to try on shorts since mine are getting pretty raggedy. Tried on about 10 pairs, each of which made me look like an Oompa Loompa... went home.
  13. You have piqued my interest!
  14. First episode of Breaking Bad. Seems pretty good.
  15. Mike, thanks for the 3-2-1 tip. I did a 3-2-0.5 and it was absolutely fantastic fall off the bones rib eating. By the time it was out of the foil, it was falling apart. I might do something like a 2-2-1 with the baby back ribs. The temperature in the WSM started falling a bit after 4.75 hours and I had to put in some more charcoal (unlit Kingsford - no lighter fluid of course... hope the chemicals don't kill me too soon ). I used Kingford briquets this time because it was my first time but I might try natural lump charcoal next time (or maybe a mix).
  16. I just finished the 3 hour mark and decided to try the 3-2-1 method (although I am using a water pan with the Weber so I wonder if I should only do a 3-1-1). Also, I just saw that baby backs should use a "2-2-1." Oh well, I am sure they will taste good.
