  1. Just saw this post. Thanks. What was the problem?
  2. Happy birthday Stephen!!! Hope this one is better than the last.
  3. Yes, I have, but maybe someone someday will visit poor little me.
  4. Finally got to this restaurant Underbelly that I have wanted to go to. I got the "Butcher's cut" which I thought the waitress say was short ribs. They were fucking amazing. I wasn't sure that was short ribs because it was different than I have usually had them. They were like the most tender juicy steak ever, cooked perfectly medium rare with a really nice sauce/glaze on the outside. Melty in the mouth indeed. They put last night's steak to shame. I really wish I knew what this was and how they cooked it. Also had some Korean braised goat and dumplings (so awesome), crispy chicken livers (ok), and Vinegar Pie (also very good). If anyone is passing through Houston someday, I would highly recommend it.
  5. Sorry Ken. You should give them a piece of your mind (and get your money back). I have half a steak left if you want me to fax it over.
  6. Steak night without hubby so I decided to try something new. Prime strip steak with a peppercorn and cognac cream sauce; sauteed portabello mushrooms and onions; and a spinach, feta, pear grape tomato, and balsamic vinegrette salad. Also a large glass of Robert Biale's Black Chicken Zinfandel. It was divine! You cannot really go wrong with well marbled steak, butter, cognac, cream and good wine though.
  7. If they weren't out of the 128GB (they seem to have the 64GB at MS.com), I would probably buy one today. It make my old tablet pc (Motion Computing LE1700) seems like a dinosaur.
  8. Happy early birthday. That looks very yummy. It should go well with whiskey. This is what I did (after using the baking soda and vinegar). After doing BS+V and boiling hot water twice, it starting draining again! I ran the dishwasher today and everything was fine. So I think I am ok. Still going to go out and buy a snake today (for the future). I don't know why we don't already own one.
  9. I went over to Best Buy to check out the Surface Pro. Unfortunately, the stylus was already stolen so I couldn't try out how smooth it writes/draws. I guess I should have realized that anything not bolted down at BB could not possibly last longer than a day. I ask the guy if they have another one, he tells me that you don't need it because it has touch capability. Then I proceed to tell him how the pen digitizer is different from the capacitive touch.... needless to say, he was not interested in the different technologies. He just says, here is a stylus (one that works with capacitive touch). Then I go around the store looking to see if they have any Wacom pens, which they don't and eventually leave. Sigh. Next time I will bring my own pen. Other than that, the screen is nice and it seems pretty zippy.
  10. Just looked at flights and they are super cheap - $219 round trip from Houston. I may buy a flight soon (once I get hubby's permission). When do people think that they'll be getting in? I am thinking of Friday - Monday. When are the block of hotel rooms reserved?
  11. Tim put a bunch of coffee grounds down the garbage disposal tonight and we got a big clog in our kitchen sink. Fun. After checking the trap and plunging (forgetting about the hose to the dishwasher... duh) was unsuccessful, I went to the internet and found out about backing soda and vinegar. That seems to have fixed everything (at least for now). Also, hubby is going out of town tomorrow morning which leaves me to deal with the problem if it continues. Sigh.
  12. Chris, Have you used any tablets with a Wacom digitizer stylus before? If so, how does the writing compare to them. If you haven't, no problem.
  13. I accidentally updated my itunes to itunes 11. It seems fine to me. However, many have endlessly complained about it. What are the major complaints about it?
  14. ^Also interested in this question. I use iteleport but would be interested to know if there is something better out there.
  15. Ok, so 80% it is very similar to giving platelets (or other automated donations) which is not too bad. The thing that I dislike about apherisis is when the fluids go back into you. They are cold and make my chest really cold. That is great!
  16. Yeah, I cannot imagine that it would be much fun but I would be willing to do it if it really helped someone in need. Maybe I was denied because I had arthroscopic hip surgery (which puts a tiny anchor in the hip bone)? Ps. My grad student got an even better postdoc offer today! She is still thinking of tenure tracks jobs at teaching schools, but I really hope she takes this one.
