I did. I cannot resist the Mysore Nuggets.

I bought some beets to put in the Vitamix (I love them!). If anyone has blended them, what size pieces should I cut them into before blending.

This, except I ordered yesterday so I don't even have the 2 lbs yet. Ugh.

Thanks for the advice. I'll pick up some apples. I usually don't eat them raw because they are a bit boring but they are probably good in a smoothie. Did a little better today, more green, less brown, thinner, sweeter and smoother. It was very good! I love the peanut butter and bananas together! The peanut butter cleaned up very nicely with the usual cleaning procedure (although I didn't use much and tried to keep it from touching the container before blending. 1 banana 4 strawberries 1 leaf of kale scoop of peanut butter Rice milk

The Vitamix is no longer virgin. 2 carrots 8 cherries 1/2 nectarine 1 campari tomato 1 leaf of kale a few dashes of Sriracha 1 little water to thin it Tim tasted it and said yuck and then afterwards said that he had trouble not gagging towards the end. I guess that means he didn't like it. I thought it tasted quite healthy.

Good idea. I also read that you should either clean it out with bleach/water or vinegar/water solution once a month (on high for 30-60s). This seems like a good idea. I have recently gotten into cleaning with vinegar and washing fruit with vinegar, it's great.

How difficult is it to clean the Vitamix after making a smoothie with peanut butter in it? I have read some complaints about peanut butter sticking to the bottom and sides but maybe that was only when making peanut butter. Also, have you ever had to take apart the blade assembly to properly clean the vitamix? I notice, in the manual, it says to take apart the blade assembly "if any solid residue remains" after cleaning. But then, it also says to only remove the blade assembly if absolutely necessary. So I am guessing this is something I probably won't have to do (I am hoping to not have to take it apart to clean ever).

Jeez Brent, you're having some bad luck.

Picked up a red CIA Vitamix today and BB&B, using the 20% off coupon (and canceled the amazon order). I guess it is useful to have cashiers who can't read since it clearly prohibits using the coupon for Vitamix products. Before opening the box, I thought I should try making a green smoothie with my old blender. It worked ok but it still required chewing the kale a bit (perhaps I didn't purify it long enough). I also had to tip the blender sideways while blending to get the kale to mix in (perhaps I should put the kale in first instead of last though). Banana, cherries, nectarine, kale, 1% cow milk. I guess I will open up the Vitamix.

Wait, really?

Amazon has a CIA Professional Series for $398 which is very tempting. I don't need the presets so this might be a good choice for me. http://www.amazon.com/Vitamix-1363-Professional-Series-Platinum/dp/B000RRKQKA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1373774820&sr=8-3&keywords=vitamix Edit: Ordered the CIA. I thought about getting this from BB&B with a 20% coupon but I see that the coupon excludes Vitamix. . Now I have to wait for it.

Jeff, that sounds disgusting.

I haven't tried putting green stuff in our blender. I suppose it won't come out so nice. I have been reading more about the Vitamix and it sounds great. Now to try and sell it the hubby. By the way, what is the recommended model?

No smoothy here but I do have a question for the Vitamix fans. I have the urge to buy a Vitamix but, frankly, it is mostly because I like cool gadgets. So far I have kept myself from buying one (mostly because hubby won't let me get one without a good reason - he says we already have a blender, juicer, and food processor that we don't use all that often). So my question is what does the vitamix do that I can't do with my other kitchen gadgets and is it worth getting one. Also, I am trying to eat healthier nowaday but haven't gotten back into smoothies - I was really into them in grad school but that was over 10 years ago.

Actually, I was delighted to find "proper" bacon at the daily breakfast buffet at our wonderful hotel in Paris! That was a total WIN!

Flew home from Paris today. France was nice but it is so nice to be home. After spending 21 out of the last 40 days in Europe (and traveling to and from Europe), all I want to do is stay here. It was great to smell the mesquite grilled meats as we got near our house! Also, Air France International Premium Economy Class is awesome!!! It's was almost as good as United Business Class in the states and didn't cost too much. KLM sucks but Air France is on my god side for now. Did I mention how nice it is to be home!

Can't believe I missed this. Joyeux Anniversaire Mike!

The problem was that the waiter asked me, in English, "medium rare or medium?" and I responded "medium rare." I wasn't sure if he would think that I was ordering an American version of medium rare or the French version. I was with a friend of mine who is is French (we met up for dinner) and we were wondering what would they would bring out. It was still good and I ate it like that but I woudn't call it medium rare (unless that means rare on the inside and medium on the outside ). I certainly didn't want to say medium and actually get a (what American's consider) medium steak.

Jealous of the tri-tip! Ok, I guess I'm not too jealous since I did have a rather good Pave de Boeuf aux Poivre Vert ("medium rare" in France = rare).

Good to hear that the DSHA-1 and L2 are pretty close... I can live with that.

Don't know if that place existed when I lived there but the sweets look good in the pics.
