  1. Aerial picture of a balanced amplifier for dynamic headphones. Only light from LEDs and tubes. ISO-25600, F4, 1/13 sek. And in day light. 4 x 2A3, 4 x 12BH7, 8 x switch mode filament supplies, 2 x GRHV and 4 x transformers. DIY is still fun.

  3. No output transformer. There are output electrolytics to headphone. Schematically it looks something like this. Reason for three KSC2690A in CCS is to distribute the heat, so no heat sink needed. At the moment I only use two transistors in CCS due to insufficient transformers. I don’t know how to optimize the circuit, but I’m happy with the result.

  5. Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath (1980) https://album.link/i/298099519 Example: Good Album with a couple great songs (example) for me. Metal was in a strange state in 1980.

  6. Max’s car control and placement is insane. Leaves Dave for dead immediately because he is going all the way out to the edge of the kerbs and then some. To the surprise of no one.

  7. But Here We Are by Foo Fighters (2023) https://album.link/i/1682993466 Example: Good but sad album. Post Taylor's passing. Not as diverse as other recent offerings. I will probably listen to some songs more than the album.

  11. my year of continuing to do things that I probably should pay for, but can’t bring myself to continues. Today’s adventure was rehabilitating my malfunctioning water heater. For $135 in parts I was able to replace all of the active and passive internals and upon reassembly, it didn’t leak and produced hot water. it only took two trips to the hardware store so I view that as a win as well. I figure I saved myself at least 500 bucks today.

  16. I made my caramel, apple cheesecake to take to work. It's a fairly standard baked NY cheesecake recipe, but I add an apple filling, drizzle caramel sauce on before baking and substitute ginger snaps in place of graham crackers in the crust. No offense Grahame.

  18. No offense taken, Distal Caulk (cunt that autocorrect -- Dust Me, Cank (hell's bells -- it happened again!)!)! I hadn't even posted once before kvetching all o'er this thread. If there's a woeful lack o' commitment here, it's all mine. Which remands me: Thanks for the stovetop-ready greet! (Then he paused to gape at the fearsome phalanx of imbibers in that gif. . . .)

  19. RIP Zakir Hussain way too young at 73. The tabla legend (and son of a legend) crossed so many musical boundaries and was amazing to see perform. He also seemed like a really nice man at SFJAZZ events. Our own prodigal member @neilvg did some work with him and but I don't know if he'll even get pinged from this reference. In any event, RIP to the legend. https://www.sfchronicle.com/entertainment/article/zakir-hussain-hindustani-scion-extended-reach-19982466.php

  20. If a tree falls down in a forest, and there's nobody there to hear it,: does it still make a noise? Google says Scientifically, the answer would be yes. Just because there is no one in the forest to hear the sound does not mean that the sound did not take place. If once places a tape recorder in the forest, then later plays the recording after a tree fell, then we know that the sound occurred. It seems that postjack got highjacked from this thread...
