Two bans that had a big impact on me when I wasn't even a snotty teenager yet: Propaganda: And Daryl Hall # John Oates: Don't laugh at me đŸ¤£ butI remember watching this video over and over again, I thought Daryl in that leopard skin suit was super cool... (yes, I also freaked out about Sonny Crockett and Miami Vice)4 points

A bit unsure asking about X-Propaganda led by women in their sixties or even seventies...2 points

^^^ LOVE Propaganda! The 2 original female singers are in a new band, xPropaganda; they have a new album out (as well as Claudia having done a good amount of solo stuff as well as under the band name Act). Interestingly, the two male members are coming out in October with a new album under the Propaganda name. A single is already out. Seems interesting, but most of the albums that any of them have done outside the line-up from that album (maybe excluding Act's one album) have not been as enjoyable for me personally.2 points

I'm listening to Propaganda's A Secret Wish right now! They also have an interesting remix album called Wishful Thinking that you've probably heard as well. I was just about to put on some Hall & Oates. Great minds think alike.1 point

I'm a slow coffee drinker. I'm not the type to sit down finish a cup in 10-20 minutes then move on. After having the Ember Mug for about a year now, I can't imagine being without it. The idea of having to go back and forth to the microwave, jacking the taste up, etc. seems rediculous now. So, for any slow coffee drinkers that always has a cup nearby to sip, ocassionally. I highly recommend it, regardless of the seemingly high price.1 point

The following contains gratuitous cat pictures. I've mentioned my friends Peter and Adele before. Peter will be 88 this year. He spent decades shooting 4x5 and doing some clever double exposures. Peter doesn't use computers, so all of his work in is completely analogue and mostly not on the internet. I'd like to help him scan some of his works, but that's a huge job. Adele (at the tender age of 84) is very much online, and even knows how to use her SMRT TV as a bluetooth device with her iPhone to stream video and photos. Even I don't know how to do that, but in my defense, I hate fucking hate smartphones. Peter and Adele's daughter, who's around my age, is as computer literate as any Gen Xer. (She actually a VP of something-or-other in a cybersecurity company.) All this is relevant because she recently moved to MV and brought her two cats. This is Gertie, the more good natured of the two. The only problem with her is that she's so friendly she tends to run toward me, making her a difficult subject to capture at times. This is Gidget. She's much more mercurial, but quite friendly when she decides to be. ...and not when she doesn't! Yesterday I caught Gertie sitting in a box. Of course I didn't manage to catch her with her eyes open and looking at me. Solid Cat/10 interaction. Meanwhile Gidget checked the Golf's tire pressure. Then she sauntered back to see why Gertie was getting all the attention.1 point

I've been lurking in /r/largeformat again. As I've mentioned, that subreddit has cured me (mostly) of ever wanting to buy a view camera. The time, money and effort most of the users put into what are frankly mediocre to bad results is staggering. The other side of this coin is that the photographers who are good with large format are really good at what they do. The larger the format, the bigger the delta. Most of the following are 4x5 Some are scanned negatives, others are contact prints. Most people don't seem to bother with enlargers anymore. Bork. An accident, but an interesting one. Potential album cover right there.1 point

Celebration, Volume 1 by Wayne Shorter (2024) https://album.link/i/1752553726 Example: "Celebration, Volume 1 is the first in a series of releases that saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter curated from archival material before his passing in 2023. The album features his long-running band—Panamanian pianist Danilo Perez, bassist John Patitucci, and drummer Brian Blade—in a live 2014 performance recorded at the Stockholm Concert Hall in Sweden." Nice to have the first in a series of good recordings of the late Wayne. This one features a lot of the Zero Gravity works. Good stuff.1 point

From St Marks in SF. I was not familiar with Ana's work, seeming to come out of nowhere. Turns out a prodigy and recorded in the 90's and early 2000s. And then just recently a PSAudio recording - for $58! Ouch. I will live with the YT compression for now. Nice selection and recording, and I liked Ana's performance.1 point

Blackstar by David Bowie (2016) https://album.link/i/1676286487 Example: It was so easy to overlook that this was the legendary Bowie, in his late 60's, dying of cancer. I got lost very quickly in it just being a really good album. Thanks David.1 point

I have a bezerra strega, and I think it'd be perfectly at home in a head-case level stereo shop. Looks like the business, makes great coffee. https://www.wholelattelove.com/products/bezzera-strega-top-al-espresso-machine-with-wood-accents?currency=USD&variant=205546616259101 point
