  1. I'm enjoying this one. It's a GOT placed in the XVIIth century Japan. Even the intro and its music have some resemblance. It portrays well the cultural gap between the English seaman and the japanese people. I'm also enjoying the view of the catholic vs protestant and all the economics behind.

  5. I haven't been online much this week but I'm glad you posted this, Steve. Some friends and I were having a discussion the other day on the anniversary of the suicide of another friend. Never underestimate the simply act of letting someone know that you see them and care.

  7. Thanks, Ric, too kind (seriously). F&F finally starting to roll with a few donations last night and Andrew and Lily chipped in this morning. So we're now in striking distance of $2k and well on the way to meeting the goal of $2,500.

  10. Once again it's time to remember Matt on what would be his Birthday. It would be hard for anyone who met Matt to forget him. I hope there's a better place, where you're happy Matt!

  11. ^^^ SO SO SO right Nate. I knew 3 people from my High School class who committed suicide, all of them probably could have used a friendly ear and voice. I didn't know Matt well at all, just a couple interactions on H-F back in the day. But I'm very glad he is remembered so well by many here!

  12. Bad Monkey (AppleTV) - first three eps are very enjoyable, if highly dependent upon Vaughn's witty charm: Natalie Martinez ain't too difficult to look at either though😉

  13. We had a long time employee in the stock room leaving today, so they made a big spread to send him off. Lots of great food, including pork burritos. I didn't want to have a filling burrito for lunch, so I set one aside in the fridge and am turning it into a chimichanga tonight. I had some homemade guacamole in the fridge for topping.

  20. That was actually my direct supervisor and he's completely heterosexual. I did tell him that I nominated him for an honorary rainbow key card.

  23. Blackstar by David Bowie (2016) https://album.link/i/1676286487 Example: It was so easy to overlook that this was the legendary Bowie, in his late 60's, dying of cancer. I got lost very quickly in it just being a really good album. Thanks David.

  28. I am not sure how I missed this one, but RIP Peter Higgs (April 8th) @ 94 I was watching some programs on gravity and particle physics, as I do, and they mentioned it. I guess I was distracted by the Eclipse and OJ at the time. A pillar in the fundamental understanding of our universe and the standard model. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Higgs If he now knows the structure of the universe, I wish there was a way for him to tell us.
