  2. Thanks! It's a bit strange, because I'm used to being the guy that's 100% confident in his abilities on the job. But it's good to shake things up now and then. Also, there's a local carpenter named Jack that has done lots of work on Al's Fairfax house. In 2013 I worked with him on a bathroom remodel above the garage (Frank's old place). And he also saw me building some stuff for Al and Claire. Well on Friday he came into Fairfax Lumber, saw me working there and inquired about that. Augie (the president) started to introduce him to me, and Jack told him that we had worked together several years back. He also said that I could build anything and that I was the best carpenter he'd ever worked with. Not only did that make me feel great, it seemed to impress the boss even more. There's a guy who rents space from Fairfax Lumber who builds furniture on site. His name is Dean. Dean was also standing there, and told Augie to be careful or he'd steal me away from him. Just nice to be recognized for something I put decades of passion into.

  5. https://youtu.be/xf-zV1uTkW0?feature=shared This guy is something else. At an event full of the best athletes in the world he shows yet again that he is one of a kind. Add this one to the long list of his career of legendary nights. Seeing the despondency on the France bench or the dancing and euphoria on the US bench tells you all you need to know.

  7. Al's Sister Rini gave me a gift card to a cool record shop in Petaluma for my Birthday, back in February. Today Maki and I took the scenic back road and I decided on some used CDs to maximize my yield. I was excited to find that Nitty Gritty Dirt Band CD.

  10. Got to see (again) my favorite band, The Chameleons. My son joined me for this one. Two of the original members, plus an extremely talented 3 other musicians. This was the best I think I've seen them since the full group reunion in 2000/2001. Just an amazing show, my son agreed. They had incorporated some keyboards into some of their music, and usually didn't tour with a keyboard player. This time they did, and it added a great extra layer of sound/ambience to many of the songs. Interesting tidbit more for local music fans: the second opener was a band called Lovina Falls. The singer was the lead singer of a 90's dream-pop type band in Boston called Mistle Thrush; I have a couple of their CD's. I was today years old when I found out the current Chameleons drummer was the drummer for Mistle Thrush! Spoke to the lead singer about it after the show, she couldn't stop praising him; and was so happy to open for the Chameleons - she's apparently a good fan. Lovina Falls and Chameleons

  13. I can't help but pronounce that name in my head like Les Nessman any time I see it in print (which isn't terribly often these days). RIP Señor Rodrigweez.

  15. The Commandant's Shadow. Watching with some of the Brit's we saw "The Zone of Interest" with. A thought provoking companion piece, although it stands on its own.
