  1. Finally got to Howlin' Ray's for a hot chicken sandwich and it was excellent! Went with Medium+ heat level at my brother's suggestion, but should have gone all the way to hot. No multiple hour line on a Friday at 4:00pm. In fact no line at all.

  2. RIP Baby Bull. And Very sad RIP for Martin Mull. Martin was that special type of funny that was so subtle sometimes that the joke was for very few people, probably mostly himself and maybe the late Fred Willard. I also don't think of the shows listed, I think of the movie Clue, and of course old TV specials like, The History of White People in America. And he seemed to be a staple on Johnny and Letterman. RIP Martin, thanks for the yucks, guffaws and chuckles.

  5. Karen and I went to what was SUPPOSED to be a comedy night at a local farm, but apparently there was an over-abundance of entertainment. We missed some of the magician's act, but we were able to catch this fine gent doing karaoke-style vox, complete with requisite open shirt and gold chain 🤣. Cheesy to say the least (though his voice wasn't too bad).

  6. Even I at the other side of the Atlantic, the one where baseball has zero following, know who was Orlando Cepeda. RIP.

  7. I came here to complain about the ridiculousness of True Detective: Dark Country, but then saw the season three premiere of The Bear and it's all beautiful and me smiling. Best show on TV.

  8. Was just gonna post about him. I watched Fernwood Tonight (and later America Tonight) not when it was a new show, but as reruns on Nike at Nite (which had some amazing content in the early days.) Not everything he did was funny (his comedic music albums were ...mixed at best) but his screen presence was amazing.

  9. I just nominated Hiromi's Sonicbloom's Time Control as album of the decade, 2000-2009 on I&W (prog rock and prog metal) Discord Server. Hiromi's Sonicbloom was her, Martin Valihora (drums), Tony Grey (bass), and David Fiucynski (guitar), and -- IMHO -- Fiucynski was as important as she was in making their sound so appealing to me. You should check out all of their albums if you aren't already familiar. It's a 3 dimensional 4 faceted gem.

  10. My first exposure to Alan Holdsworth was when I was in high school and my guitar teacher gave me a homemade tape with several different guitarists on it. The song Rhoad Games sounded unique. It's what got me into him. Since then, its been a regular album that I revisit from time to time.

  15. Martin Mull doesn't evoke either Roseanne or Arrested Development for me (partly because I didn't watch the former very much or the latter at all) but Fernwood/America Tonight was epic and his albums were a staple of my youth. RIP Another Giant has fallen -- Orlando "Baby Bull" Cepeda has joined the Willies in baseball heaven. Yahoo sports obit

  18. This is my first time hearing, Steve Khan. I've been on a jazz/fusion guitar binge lately and like his style. I'll be listening to more of his stuff. There's plenty of it.

  19. Here's To Life by Shirley Horn (1992) https://album.link/i/1443164309 Example: This is a perfect example of how to use your talents and limitations as one ages. Such a pretty album. Her ability to play with the microdynamics in her voice is just amazing to me.

  20. I can offer that the PDK is the finest automatic I've driven. I said that about Audi's years ago, but I'd argue Porsche's is better. The car would be faster for it. It's just that I need (read: want) some analog in my life... HS

  21. I read the headline on an article indicating this Aston was built for Alonso. Didn't read it through so it might have just been a hook. LOVE that it's a stick car. I was finally "given" an allocation for a 2025 911. Almost fell over when I was told no manual transmission for the 911, 911S or GTS (big hybrid release so that makes sense on the GTS). What a dip... Took me buying the wife a Macan S to "earn" the allocation. I'm guessing they'll be back within a year, but we'll see.... Looks like I'll be hanging onto the 2007 for a while longer....first world problems. HS
