This is funny, I just bought some SRD-7's to use as donors for my own boxes. A SR-Lambda was included with one of those energizers and just look at that serial number... Aside from the foam in the earcups being crusty and the earpads having been replaced at some point, they play perfectly for a 45 year old set.6 points

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin (1970) https://album.link/i/580708279 Example: Classic for a reason - not revolutionary, but a nice progression of music and style from II to IV. And yes I have the old gatefold record with the spinny thing for the cover art. 😵💫 I do listen to Zep a lot during the course of the year, but it has been a while since I sat down and really listened to an album. Maybe like 6 months or something crazy like that.5 points

I find familiar music easier to listen to, because I remember what it was supposed to sound like. This is very antithetical to what I want to listen to, so ... cognitive dissonance. Just sayin'. Me, now: Yuja Wang -- she apparently did a 2.5 hour Rachmaninoff recital of all four concertos and the one Paganini Rhapsody. 2.5 hours of win. ...while wearing 4 different outfits. ...and a heartbeat monitor I think it would be dangerous if I was one of those audience members2 points

Thanks for the reminder. It's been while for me, so it's time for another listen too.2 points

Sorry to hear your previous one got stolen. But glad you got a replacement to fill that Jeep-shaped hole in your heart.1 point

It was transparently snarky. Let's see if I remember it verbatim. "Tell Ethan Nate says hi. Not really, I'm just dropping his name. (But I do really know him.) Honey Badger => Sugar Weasel => Agave Opossum?" It got me a quality 13" Sugar Weasel upper in 300 Blackout and that's good enough for me. It really looks like an SBR now. Thunder Chicken is on layaway, will start the process tomorrow. Unrelated: I got new wheels for my car -- Sparco All-Terrain Gravels. Looking at (super cheap) properties that only have dirt and gravel road access. Also: not in Warren fucking "Let's Go Brandon" territory County.1 point

I always find something interesting...usually too many...at the Texas Mile. This one really caught my eye. It's a real deal (edit: superbird...it's a plymouth) and they had done a lot of fabrications work to get it to this point. Certainly not the fastest, but listening to the owner and builders love for it was really cool. And, big arse waaaaang, as my buddy would say. Not my thing but pretty nifty... HS1 point

So after many weeks of diagnostics and several trips to several part stores, my truck is finally producing an acceptable amount of voltage. It settled out after this photo and running the truck for about 35 minutes to about 14.2 volts. I am happy with that. It started with me hooking up the fifth wheel, about to make a short trip and noticed that I was no longer producing electricity. I proceeded to check things out and then replaced the alternator. This of course did not fix the issue. As it turns out, all the voltage regulation is run through the computer. I tried to buy a new one of those which would have cost me $500 but nobody had them or would sell me one. So I finally decided to go completely DYI and externalize the voltage regulator to its own device. I got that all hooked up and I was getting too many pixies with it, around 15.7 volts. I didn't want to just boil my batteries to nothing. So after running a separate power lead and doing some additional rewiring, none of which I am very proud of and will not take a photo of, I got it all back together and working "properly”. I can at least move on to other projects now.1 point

Good news, two more KGSTs now live and play music. PSUs are set to 400V, so there's plenty of ventilation. I did have one channel with some hum, which turned out to be the tubes. Not sure if it was a bad tube or if the legs just needs some cleaning. Either way I swapped in some RCA 6S4As which worked like a charm.1 point

Not really. I think GG has better vocal while Carbon has better both ends extension and a little bit wider soundstage. BH sits between them.1 point

My beloved 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk was stolen from the airport parking lot in Dec 2022 while vacationing. They stopped production in 2021 so a new one was not on the books. I found a 2018 in the same color combo, but it was misrepresented...not clean enough for me to love it and it being a first year model it wasn't as good as later production. It will be sold before long. Finally found a 2021 of very low mileage...literally smells brand new. Only problem is the first owner ticked the box for the gloss black hood and roof. The roof I can't really see and it blends into the windshield so I chose to leave it alone. I did have a white pearl wrap affixed to the hood...I'm finally happy enough to kick off the power modifications. Pleased as punch I finally found a daily I can love again...and beat on...LOL.
