@purkcame to visit me today. I showed him all of my DIY headphones. He seemed to like my Omega clone the most.

Didn't know until today that this existed! Just started listening (24/96), but looking to be a fantastic compliment to the night before!

Finished a charcuterie board and beer opener for the neighborhood 4th of July auction.

I see a couple of cameras I once owned on that list, most notably the Sony DSC-R1 (which she amusingly for our crowd calls "R10"). While that was a very amusingly unusual camera that took great images for its' time, I can't say I miss it. But I've never been one to be sentimental about gear/toys, it's always been upgrade and move along. Personally, I can't imagine the mental weight of owning so much stuff. I think I've got 2 camera bodies and 12 lenses and have definitely been thinking of downsizing a bit.

As vintage digital cameras get mentioned here often, fun purge video from this morning (with buying options). Her goal was getting down to two. Good try.

on further inspection the clamps held the work down ok, but the table is bowed downwards in the middle, hence the vibrations in mid way. I will experiment with the tape and ca glue. I also have purchased a thick spoil board which I will attach very firmly to the bed and level that. But I don't see much point in doing the levelling until I have put in the missing bolts which I cant do without some disassembly anyway. I also need to square the Y axis (dual motor) and square the spindle... all the axis come pre assembled - no bolts missing there and I did check all the bolts were tight. almost all the missing bolts are to things like limit switches, drag chain rails, thin guards to stop chips jumping onto the axis threads, bolts for the additional spindle holders etc. I would not run the machine if it did not feel the structural parts were not well bolted together. I could stop all the vibrations by putting weight into the middle of the work piece. The machine (other than the standard spoil board) feels really solid. the laser should arrive in 2 weeks or so. I hope 20W will be powerful enough, but its a free gift from foxalien for the missing bolts and scratches to the controller box.... I don't mind taking things slowly including the speeds and feeds i'm in no hurry - I have a lot of learning to do and a lot of experience to get. I know i'm going to break bits, ruin some work etc.. and im ok with that, hence the cheap bits and working a scrap materials. I was fascinated by wood work and metal work when at secondary school but I ended up studying computer science and university. I like the idea of making things, (I guess it was having lots of lego when I was a child) - and like the idea of making better looking front, top and back panels for my stax amps, so i'm viewing the entire thing as a learning experience a to keep me occupied now I have built all the stax amplifiers I wanted to.

Since I can't afford a 392 Wrangler, and really don't care for the stock Rubicon shocks, I did the next best thing... Swapped in a set of like-new take-off Jeep 392 Fox shocks. Soooooooo much better. The stock shocks were way too soft, and Jeep would rock so much when shifting, and brake dive was horrible. These are firmer and took care of those things without making the ride harsh at all. I also finally got my 1901 Maine state flag fender vent decals on. I mean, it's still not a V8 Wrangler, but stickers add more HP anyway, so I figure I must be ahead.

Also, the three of us boys in the barber shop was when we first visited my Grandparents in Texas, and when they heard we were from Alaska the newspaper came and took our picture. I'm really fortunate to have the Trackhawk, TMoney...thank you. Liking how low maintenance it is especially driving it around TX and not having to worry about potholes nor clearing parking stops, etc... It's funny that you mention the Porsche Turbo.... I'm starting to fall in love with a 2007 Turbo stick car. It's a bit of a project...60k miles and a lot of love bites. The interior is a bit of a mess and I'm working on sorting it out...got a used passenger side door card I need to install. The car is a lot more enjoyable than I expected... HS

I did manage to finish the first “project” on the magic side table. Did the key tray with 1/4” downcut windmill followed by the bowl bit to round the bottom. The large one was done with the 3/4” bowl bit and came out much better.

While waiting for the replacement I today brought forward my home-built headphone which has been stoved away for a year or so. It sounds really good, even better than I remembered. Perhaps it ages as a good wine. Wonder what happens if I put it away in our wine cellar for a couple of more years? Original home-built Faulty Stax

Anyways, here's my 2 eurocents. It's really all about the features and wether you care to benefit from them. It comes with a 100 page manual and it's worth to actually go through it. Almost every aspect of it makes the purist stuff from most audiophile mfg's look stone age. You get one of the best digital volume controls out there, 5 band stereo PEQ, unique loudness compensation, dicking around with DAC filters, all kinds of X-feed and much more. It measures impeccably. I'm half sure that my Pro can give lab grade measurement stuff from AP a run for their money. As for the sound, I enjoy it. If you're used to THD, then it might feel too naked. I've heard people say that. Simple music like strings with solo vocals can sound richer on dirtier sources, the problem is that this richness gets in way of spectrally busier records like metal and such. And I personally like to feel that what I'm hearing is the truth, even if there's no direct way to know that.
