  2. Good for you Brent! I am guessing that I will be doing the local version of this and/or the MS Ride. When are you starting training? If you want any cold weather gear that I have in your size you're welcome to it. I have a bunch of XL from performance.

  3. Picked up an acoustic to start lessons with. Really like everything about it. Martin OMC-160 GTE. Not a rosewood body (Ovangkol) so a bit cheaper but I like the weight and the sound seemed pretty great. I liked the idea of having the electric capabilities though I probably won't use it. I even had a guitar player at the shop play me some music on it and several other Martin's and Taylor's and chose this one.

  4. Video Skyped with my mother on her new iPad Air. I'd Skyped with her on new years day, having set up the call and handled the tech support issues over the phone. This time she initiated the call and manged it all pretty much all by herself. Not bad for an eighty year old.

  5. I see you have already made your choice, but for those browsing this thread looking for some great near field monitors I have to recommend the Neumann's. I had a listen to the KRK's, Adam's, Focal's, Genelec's, Yamaha's, Presonus's Yorkville's, M-Audio's, Fostex's, Dynaudio's, Mackies, Alesis's, Focusrite's, Behringer's, and JBL's, but it was the little Neumann KH120's that blew me away. I like my sound to be coherent between both L/R (not isolated) to the point where the speakers/headphones disappear and you're immersed in wide stage of precise imaging, The Neumann's and JBL's where the only ones that could do this for me. When it came to buy time for my computer set-up I upgraded to the Neumann KH310 A's. These monitors are just WOW! The KH310's are extremely neutral with great imaging. Mono vocals just hover in front of you like you could reach out and grab them, perfect hight and all. The low-end is deep and precise with extreme speed, first time I've experienced such low-end imaging, something you can't get with a sub. Highs are clear and crisp blending beautifully into the revealing mids, and mids blending into lows with no weight difference. The whole band blends together like a single driver speaker or headphone would. I was all about headphones for what they offer over speakers but these monitors offer more than I would ever expect from the best headphones. Detail, Resolution, immersion...all there. Ya their price might scare off some, but IMO worth every penny and then some.

  9. The in-laws were supposed to leave today but their (direct) flight to Baltimore was canceled (I assume because of something due to weather). Fucking United decided to rebook them on a flight on *Wednesday* going through Chicago, WTF??? I don't mind them staying here longer but I do mind United dicking people around. At least get them on a fucking direct flight so they don't get stuck in Chicago and WTF is up with rebooking someone on a flight 4 days away.
