  2. I took a mental health day today. I hadn't been feeling well for a couple of days and didn't have much scheduled today so I decided that rather than get really sick I'd try to get some rest and take care of a few things around the house before the long weekend. I woke up feeling much better than yesterday and almost went to work. I'm glad I didn't. Time to go mail a few packages, one of which is overdue to be headed to Texas for experiments with maths.

  4. He's wonderful. The puppy van was running late, so I went to met it in Wellington (for FL folks who know). He was definitely a bit scared, but after two long walks in the neighborhood, peeing and pooping everywhere, he's just a happy puppy. He and Ivan are actually getting along fine, as in amazingly fine. The three of us were on the bed together for awhile, but little dog thinks it's funny to growl a bit. They've come up to each other multiple times and touched noses. I think it's going to be a bit more difficult when he's not so timid and wants to play. I'm tired. I'll take pics tomorrow, but I'm really happy. He's a great little doggie.

  5. He's arriving on Tuesday via special bus from Alabama. I met his brother, who arrived this past week, and fell in love. I've never had a dog before, but passively wanted one for years. After meeting Henry, his brother, then contacting the breeder and seeing his little guy's pics, I knew he was my dog. I don't know how else to explain it, since I'm as surprised as anyone. He's a Cavaton, half Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and half Coton de Tulear. He was born on June 24. This breeder likes to keep them longer for socialization and health checks. He was raised in a house with two kids, five adult dogs, and his litter mates. Supposed, he's the mellowest of the litter, which suits me fine. Here are some pics from this past week: On his way to get final shots and a mircochip on Friday: Action shots from a couple weeks ago: I'm pretty excited. I've already arranged for a neighbor to help out while I'm at work until he's old enough to do doggie day camp, and we start puppy training classes next week, which I obviously need, though he may not. According to my co-worker, her pup, the brother, knows "no," has had no accidents in the home and is leash trained already, so I'm hoping this little guy is at least close to those goals. I have no idea what his name will be, but he will hopefully show me soon. Right now, I'm just excited and a bit nervous. Also hoping he and Ivan can figure out how to live together. Keeping fingers crossed

  6. Ivan and Watson are already playing, but Watson cheats. He chased Ivan, who was playing with a toy mouse. Ivan chased back, but as soon as he got close, Watson started yelping like he just got stepped on hard, which scared Ivan enough to run the other direction, and Watson ran back and stole the mouse. Too funny. Both slept on the bed together again, though Ivan moved to the laundry hamper at some point in the night. I think this is going to work out fine. He went to the groomer yesterday, and is looking handsome. We went to Pet Smart and hung out at a busy outdoor restaurant, where he did fine. We start puppy class on Saturday. He's pretty territorial/protective of me already (will get between me and approaching others and growl), which is a behavior I want to nip in the bud now before he turns into one of those horrid, aggressive small dogs. Since I've never had a dog before, I need the training. Pic of my baby last night with a friend: So my car is still at the restaurant. Some how my keys disappeared though I never left the table, and was parked on the street right next to it. All I can figure is that someone picked them up by accident since about ten different people were hanging out asking about him. Sucks. At least I had my house keys separate. Now to find where I put that spare set.........

  9. I don't like the Dodgers even advancing this far, but so long as their hopes and dreams are crushed at some point that will suffice.

  10. glad you made it relatively unscathed. I bought my 16 yr old son a bike today. A 2009 KHS Flite 500 aluminum and carbon road bike. A craigslist score, it was just $200. Not a perfect bike by any means, but a screaming deal at $200. So now we're up to 3 road bikes. Looking forward to this weekend's ride.

  11. I have heard about a lot of focus issues with the Sigma 35. 35 f1.4 has been one of my favorite lenses on both Canon and Nikon. Will probably be in the market for the Canon version again soon.
