  4. My teenage son Benjamin had his Eagle Scout Board of Review last night, which he completed with flying colors. Now we're getting ready to take him out for dinner tonight to celebrate his being a new Eagle Scout! That was many years of hard work and dedication. We're so proud.

  5. Here is something for people who think the L-2 is a bit plain looking... It's my birthday present from Kevin and along with it came the L-2 power umbilical. I can finally move the amp now as the temp cable was just a fire hazard waiting to happen.

  7. Great to see all of you guys! I really like the HD800 too, Voltron. I don't think of the resolution and presentation as shortcomings. They might be the best headphones I have heard. But they are, in many ways, the most unique as well. Having owned the HD600, HP-1, HP-2, RS1, Omega 2, the HD800 seem most similar to the O2. Maybe I am crazy for saying that. They seem like the O2 with more "dynamic" qualities. Of course, I don't listen to headphones as much as many people here. I consider my amp a speaker/power amp that happens to have a headphone jack... Speaking of which, here is a photo of the amp with updated iron, 5AR4 instead of 5R4W, and the HD800:

  8. Hd 650 if you just want to keep listening to the lovely music. HD 800s if you want to spend the next year figuring out how to make them sound great...which they can.

  9. I can't narrow it down to just two cans but those would be in my top 3 list, along with the SR-009. My issue with the HD800 is that while I really enjoy them the most with my ZDT amp, any other amp in the house is more of a let down with them. I have the tubes in the WA6 matched better to the LCD-2 and HE-500, which sound too aggressive with the HD800. If I change the tubes in it to play well with HD800 then the sound is thicker and more closed in than I like with everything else (relatively speaking). The HD800 sound a bit too clinical or dry with my DACmini, too aggressive with my HDP, and too grainy with my EF5 amp. While my HE-500 play well with a wider variety of amps, I don't get the same level of enjoyment out of them as I do with the HD800/ZDT combo.
