I've had to stop my self from buying it twice this week. Would be a pretty cool birthday present though.
Record Store Day. Monster crowds at Radio Active again this year. We nabbed some cool LPs. Had dinner at the Lotus. Adam Sandler was at the next table, greatly amusing a regiment of little kids - in-laws, we gather. Old ladies were making a fuss. Young women were texting the news to their friends. It was a strange scene. I guess the Lotus is just where the elite meet to eat. .
i think I'm realizing this is now my favorite music, loved even more than the Ellington Blanton album.
I had disc 2 on repeat all day, now enjoying the more regimented first disc.
I get goose bumps, swept away, transfixed the entire time. eyes closed.
Besides the obvious musicianship, composition, there's just something about sparse albums that gets to me.
Just a piano, amazing.
I wouldn't worry too much about exposure bracketing with the D800. At base ISO, the files have so much dynamic range that there's really no need for it. If you'd bracket just to try to get the "right" exposure, you'd probably waste less shots and memory card space, and learn more, by just taking one shot at a time, and adjusting exposure based on what you see in the histograms.
I read in this morning's paper (a physical one that was left behind at the Peter Pan Diner) that we have won a Pulitzer prize. Thus, we relinquish our crown as the Susan Lucci of newspapers! It was for a story that I had exactly nothing to do with, but it was one of the coolest stories ever. So it's all good. Congratulations are in order for Sally Kestin and John Maines!
